Podcast
500 shows!
We had so much fun, where did the time go?

Today we celebrate and rejoice in passing another stone, a milestone in podcasting as we post our 500th Gay Fun Show from the Feast of Fools.

On today's special show Miss Ronnie and Gregg Shapiro come over to discuss winning the Pressie Award for "Best Podcast" from the midwest's largest GLBT newspaper, the Chicago Free Press. Check out our pictures from the event!

We've had quite a rough month as I've spent at least half of it in Puerto Rico dealing with my father's death, Marc went up to NYC for the GLBT expo and Miss Ronnie had a short stint as a bartender at the now defunct Clark's on Clark, where we had our first Meet & Greet back in February of 2006.

Join us as we talk about micro-cellular lesbians, Cyndi Lauper's upcoming "True Colors" megatour and Miss Ronnie's full-body gyroscopic workout.

You might notice in your iPod that our "album" is now titled "Gay Fun Show." We're changing the name slightly in preparations of TWO new podcasts that we're developing. They can't all be called Feast of Fools, now can they? So we conceived the name "Gay Fun Show" as the original, still fabulous after all these years, daily dose of joy. Others to follow.

We would love to know from you, our lovely listeners which moments from the past 500 shows have stood out in your mind?

Fun is our middle name! Enjoy another Gay Fun Show from Feast of Fools.

First of all, congratulations!, I know its a little bit late, I just heard your "500" show but anyway I wanted to let know that my favorite episode is the "FLIP THAT SHIT" one OMG, I remember everybody was looking at me on the subway like I was on acid or something like that laughing my ass off when I heard Miss Ronnie saying "my eye its so luxurious ain't gotta do shit" hahahaha!!! Oh and by the way I'm from Venezuela and I love how Fausto incorporates sometimes el sabor hispano, me encanta!... Los adoro, take care, muahz!

Said by: Brian W at March 28, 2007 12:23 PM

My favorite moment was when Marc and Fausto did the robot voices on the episode "When Hal met Fred" that was SO funny in a really sublime way.

Said by: Daryl at March 28, 2007 01:24 PM

Congratulations FOF on a wonderful 500th episode. I look forward to the next 500, and the 500 after that, and the 500 after that, and so on.

I don't know if this counts as a favorite moment, but my most memorable moment was episode 105(?) in which Amanda, Fausto, and Marc discussed illegal immigration, and puppies. Every other word seemed to be "puppies" or "terrorism." The discussion was good and it made me think a little too.

If I may be allowed to be vain, I would probably say that my favorite moments have been when my name has been mentioned. I love the spotlight. What can I say?

I believe that homosexuality is legal in Poland; and I'm certain that it is legal in Russia. Poland has drawn attention in recent years because the mayor of its capital, Warsaw, vehemently refused to allow a gay pride parade to occur in his city. Also, a lobbying group in Russia is trying to REcriminalize homosexuality, which was illigal until the fall of communism. I hope I'm correct on all those facts. Maybe someone of the other listeners can confirm for me.

After listening to some "other" podcasts (Marc knows which ones I might be talking about), I can now say that the Feast Of Fools is the most professionally and expertly produced podcast I have listened to. The others simply do not have the skills and the talent to put together such wonderful content as you do. Keep up the good work!

Much love. XOXO

Congratulations on your 500th Show! Before I even get a chance to make my breakfast, I open iTunes and refresh the podcast directory so I can listen to the show during the school day - it's the best entertainment to keep my spirits up! Love to Ms. Ronnie (my personal spiritual motivator), Sal-E and Amanda, and to all your wonderful guests. I hope the show continues to be successful for you, I know I'll always be listening!

Much Love,

Said by: Devin in PA at March 28, 2007 03:33 PM

My favorite moment was when you all were sitting in the back seat of Kathy Griffin's limo and were talking about how Kathy can get her feelings hurt just like anyone else.

You guys manage to bring out the human side of all your guests and portray a funny yet touching side to them. I would love to see what you guys would ask someone like President Clinton or Madonna.

WOOF WOOF!!! Happy tail wags and puppy treats for days!!! Happy 500th show. I think my favorite show ever was the 15 hours for 5 minutes show. I almost pee'd. So good to hear Miss Ronnie again. Fausto, I don't know how you do it, with all you do and getting a show recorded and posted every day. And Mark, ever the faithful loving husband and co-host. Big hugs to Amanda and Sal-E and the newest member of the FOF family, Greg Shaperio.

One last comment (cause you know I gotta)... Jai is alive and well and seen all over LA in the local gay rags hitting the trendy hotspots (no doubt looking to be seen after turning down his one chance at true fame by appearing on the FOF).

Love you all and can't wait to see you in Chicago in May when Buzz and I hit the town (Chicago will never be the same).

And here's to 500 more. (raises a glass of champagne... 'cause the rest of the bottle was kicked by noon). Muah!

Love,

Off topic (sort-of), Stephen Colbert did a Photo Op moment a few nights ago on his show "The Colbert Report", and invited folks to stand next to the TV and take a pic with him, then send him a copy of the photo. Well, not wanting to pass up an opportunity to promote you guys, I put on my RED FOF T-shirt and posed with Stephen frozen on the TV screen. I've sent the pic into the show with hopes that they will broadcast it. Here's a link to my pic. http://www.flickr.com/photos/ddbean/437667857/

You sweeties work so hard to have come this far with your wonderful show.

Congratulations again, and may this 500th be a milestone in a long list of future successes!

Said by: Erika at March 28, 2007 11:09 PM

Hey everyone... congratulations on 500 fabulous episodes. I've enjoyed almost all of them-- my first was #123: Forbidden Planet 8/1/05. When I stop and think of how many shows you had done BEFORE I started listening.. and how many you've done SINCE... it boggles my mind.

If anyone ever complains about you making mention of your awards, I would like to say this: You have every RIGHT to be proud of your awards. Because you have worked VERY hard and put so much of your blood, sweat and tears into putting together a quality show. You deserve MORE than a few awards. A lot more.

Looking forward to the next 500+ shows, many more awards, and lots of great memories. Let's do dinner again soon. Love ya!

Congrats everyone!!! 500 freakin' shows...Amazing! I've been listening since the beginning, and as you know I'm kind of a walking archive. In my expert opinion, I have to say that you started out GREAT and have only gotten better and better since. I'm so happy that you - Marc and Fausto have become part of my world, along with the whole cast of crazy characters! (extra kisses to Ronnie!!!) All my best for the next 500 shows, and the new and inventive ways that I'm sure will be seen for you guys to express yourselves and graciously entertain the world. Lots of Love. :)

Said by: Aaron C. at March 29, 2007 09:07 PM

Congratulations, Fausto, Marc, and company on reaching the 500 episode milestone! The Feast of Fools was one of the first podcasts to which I subscribed after iTunes began supporting podcasting, and I have been a constant fan ever since. You guys kept me laughing and sane as I finished college, and I am finding refuge in the show as I start my new job. Many thanks always!

Here are some of my favorite moments in the show (in no particular order):

The George Takei interview.

The Kathy Griffin interview.

Fausto interviews Lea Delaria.

Miss Ronnie's return from her hiatus.

Victoria LaMarr's recent call in to the show.

Fausto reading his father's eulogy.

Marc and Fausto's couples coaching.

Miss Ronnie's "15 minutes for 5 inches" rant.

Miss Ronnie's first rant about Jai Rodriguez.

The interview with the Cepek's (#272).

The picture of Marc wearing the "Elmo skin".

Quarter Turns.

The Nutcracker video.

The auditions to be the new Miss Ronnie (most favorite was Sal-E as Smeagol).

Amanda rejects the new microphones because they take away her accent and transpose her voice down by several octaves.

Patricia Fernos tells all about Fausto's first boyfriend.

For that matter, any time Patricia Fernos calls into the show.

The show is recognized as a "Pioneering Podcast" by iTunes.

Every time this show has been awarded.

Marc reminding Talia (?) there is more than one way off the building they are climbing in Puerto Rico.

The Robo Ronnie 3000.

Marc's innovative cocktails.

Marc quits smoking for good.

Marc tells Ronnie he could never sleep with her, because he could never hurt Fausto.

Marc and Fausto's meltdown in the middle of recording an episode, and Ronnie provides some quick comic relief. (I didn't enjoy hearing the fight happen, but I appreciated the bravery demonstrated by leaving it in.)

All of the Meet-n-Greet episodes.

I'm sure I'm leaving something out, but that is what is coming to me at the moment.

Congratulations again, guys. Can't wait for Episode 1000!

Said by: David at March 29, 2007 11:09 PM

I think my most memorable episode for me is the V-MAR hospital episode in 2005. I was on a bus and actually burst into laughter: "make lemonades" oh the hilarity, I'm even chuckling to myself now, two years on.

Another one would be the chocolate episode (the 2005 one) where Fausto was harassing some guy lying on a table.

Congratulations on 500 episodes! I really appreciate the amount of work that goes into this podcast. My hubby and I started a podcast last year and are completely incapable of putting it out regularly--just weekly seems impossible. The fact that you manage to get out 5 quality shows a week consistently and still have regular jobs--well I bow down to your superior skill and tenacity!
