FOF #484 - Political Junkies - 02.19.07

Richard Streetman loves politics.
Think of him as a cross between George Stephanopoulos, Joan Rivers and Leslie Jordan.
Hailing from South Carolina, Richard moved to the Windy City to get his grass roots experience in the democratic political process, hoping one day to be the first openly gay President of the United States of America. No kidding. We think he just might be able to pull if off.
If not, he can always audition for American Idol and win. Almost two years ago Richard competed in the "Out at the Ballgame" contest to sing the National Anthem at the largest gay days (and the first) at a baseball game.
They could not have picked a better singer and boy did he work Wrigley Field.
Join Richard Streetman, Marc Felion and me, Fausto Fernós as we talk about the political process, Chicago's Alder-persons and Barack Obama and Hilary Clitons' HIV status (or their chances to become the next President of the United States.)
Subscribe to the Feast of Fools and you'll get a chicken in every pot, a fat-free snack cake in every mouth, and a hilarious show in every iPod.

First comment again, yey!
So, I choose my politics by appeal, and this Richard guy is hot, he has my vote (though I'm Méxican)
You finally added me to your myspace, great!
What about Amanda? I miss her!

I'm sorry to say but Amanda is dead, dead tired of you asking about when she'll be on again.
She'll be on, like all our other regular guests, when they are on. I wish we could guarantee which days she or anybody else will be on, but at this point, we can't.
You can ask Amanda or any of our regulars directly through myspace when they are going to be on. Have you added her as a friend yet?

Give FOF a little space, listeners. Marc is a little touchy today, ya see. And Marc, just remember that all the pressure comes from simply adoring and thriving on FOF podcasts.

You can rest assued that we do everything possible to keep an even rotation of our regular guests! So if you're missing anyone, keep listening, because the'll be back on soon.
I know what you mean though Juan Jaimie- I really like the Patty & Selma Simpsons episodes, and not too big a fan of the Lisa episodes, but I still watch them all, several times, in one day.
Somtimes I'm asking myself- WHEN oh WHEN are is Saturday Night Live going to do another "Ferercito" skit? But anything with Fred Armisen or Maya Rudolph is pure joy.

I think Richard is going to make a great first black woman president of the United States.

I'm sorry guys, I love you to death but the special guest after special guest is getting a little boring. You guys are at your best when you just go through the news and joke around while giving your opinion. When Amanda or Ronnie are on, it's just frosting on top of the cake.
Just wanted to give me opinion since you guys ask for it but do keep the great work.

I like the one-on-one FoFs the best too. Although Richard was a fun guest. And now they have a "political commentator," aka their very own Cokie Roberts.

George- I appreciate your candor. Some of my favorite shows are the one on one shows or with our fabulous regular guests, but I also love having different people on the show.
I feel we need to do it in order to grow as people and as podcasters.

Variety is the spice of life, people. And Fausto and Marc are Sonny and Cher, Donny and Marie, Laugh-In, Flip Wilson, and the Brady Bunch Variety Hour all rolled into one. But they're better than that, because it's not just silly and fluffy-- they give you topics of substance and make you think about things.
So think of them as the Variety Show of the 2000's.
And I'll leave you to guess which is Sonny and which is Cher. Or which is Donny and which is Marie. :-)

Thanks guys for all your comments (especially the cute ones :) I really enjoyed doing these shows. If you want me to be on again sometime, I'll be there. I'd love to be on a show with Ronnie. We used to see each other a lot when she worked in Lakeview. She even introduced me to Mamacita's Mexican Restaurant.

Once again thanks for your comments (especially to Juan, Gary and Justin for saying I am "so hot" and a "total cutie") I can't tell you how cool that makes me feel. Please feel free to email me any additional comment or criticisms.
