FOF #440 - Broadway Broads - 12.06.06

Podcast
I think a lot of gay men have a love/hate relationship with Broadway.
What is happening in the state of affairs of Broadway today? Do we really need stars to sell a show? Can't a show just be good and people will come see it? Do we really need Rosie or Usher to fill the house?

Today we have comedy couple Smith and Grimm in the house to defend the title to their show "Give Our Retards To Broadway." Are they insulting mentally challenged people or Broadway performers? You decide.

Well, we put their talent to the test and these guys certainly passed with their intro song for the Feast of Fools. We hope you like it too.

Lots of live cabaret music on today's show including "Ya'll I Saw His Balls" a country styled song that about the shock and awe of seeing someone's scrotum peek out from under his shorts. So be careful around these two and don't make them angry or they will immortalize you in song. And they sing a Christmas song about Balls as well. Hmm I think I am noticing a theme here-balls, balls and more balls.

Jim talks about his experience as performer aboard a cruise ship. And in case you missed it because Marc's joke got all stepped on-He thinks lesbians are inherently lazy and that's why they like to go on cruises and sit and watch the leaves change because they want the leaves to do all the work.

Attention Chicago Area Listeners! Listen for details on how you can win tickets to see Smith and Grimm in concert at the Lakeshore Theater this Saturday night, Dec. 9th. Come hang out with Fausto and Marc and enjoy the show. Oh, and Smith and Grimm are both single so stay after the show and get some digits.

The podcast that gives you that warm feeling inside without all that indigestion- the Feast of Fools.

What a fun show guys! I enjoyed the improv and the non-improv songs :)

"giggle while the wiggle"... LOL!

Do these guys have a CD out? Any ideas if they would be out in LA?

Thanks again!

This was a GREAT Show. I listen to it twice just for the opening act. I wish I were in Chicago to support their show. I love hearing talent like Smith & Grimm and the FOF of shines in shows like this.

That was the funniest show you've done for a while and it has alot of tough competition! The guests were great but it was the interaction of all four of you that made the show so great. Fantastic synergy.

Yeah, I really enjoyed Smith & Grimm on the show and thought they were fantastic! See you there on Saturday.

We had a great time on the Derek and Romaine show and touring the studios (man they were pimping!) Hope to meet a lot of you guys on Thursday night here at the Vlada lounge in New York City.

This show was AMAZING. Thank you so much for bringing these two onto the show. Have them back. That's not a request, it's an order. ;) Great job, guys!

love, love, love s&g's "carol of the bells/balls" bit! i had to memorize three verses of this song for a school christmas concert a decade-and-a-half ago (i sang bass in my high school glee club) and suffice it to say THEIR version was NOT one of the three i learned! heehee!!!
and guys, how is it possible that your podcast is getting better and better when all this time i thought it was already the best?!!
by the way, i still owe you a picture of me wearing my sexy red shirt! soon...

Loved this podcast! The show tunes definitely pumped up my boring, cubicle/fluorescent light existence at work. Oh and Mark, us lesbians ARE lazy haha

This show definitely belongs in a future "Best Of" compilation. The song "Y'all I Saw His Balls" was, IMHO, the best of all. You guys definitely need to have them on the show!

What a great show! Almost as good as La Chacón (kidding - this was better). Wish Stephen and I were in Chicago to see them live.

I am always wildly impressed by people who can do musical improv - it's a pretty rarified stratum. Note that I'm not counting the 'Whose Line is it Anyway' folks (if I hear that 'Hoedown' once more I will go quietly insane).

Bring them on again if you can - please?

Smith & Grimm - coming to New England anytime soon?

AWESOME fucking show guys! I loved it, loved it, loved it. As everyone else had said, Smith & Grimm were terrific, but the combination of the four of you put it over the top. Great chemistry, great energy, great show. It really made me wish to God that I lived in Chicago so that I could meet you at the theater to see some Retarded Broadway. Get those two back on the show as quickly as you can. I think they should do a theme show with you for every holiday. Doesn't that sound fun?!

BTW, Jason is uber hot. How did you keep your hands off of him? Fausto, you're usually so "hands on" with the cute ones, I'm shocked that there wasn't some flirting going on.

These two are the bomb.. These are my good friends from smsu...msu..? Watch out for both of them to f you up wherever you are. Hope everyone can make it to the show tonight

I'm straight yet like musicals -- go figure.

That being said, this was a great show. Smith and Grimm are very talented and clever. You could have them as regulars so you can break into song at any point while recording FOF.

And Fausto, you sung pretty good, too.
