Get Your Fresh & Hot iPod Bug Fix!
Some good folks have been flooing our emails with problems in playing long mp3 files (podcasts) on your iPod, causing it to crash. Today Apple came out with an iPod updater to fix this known bug.
From Apple's site:
Fifth Generation iPod resets when playing some mono MP3 songs and podcasts
Symptom: some customers may experience an issue where a Fifth Generation iPod will reset when attempting to play certain MP3 files or podcasts encoded as MP3. This symptom may occur with any MP3 file encoded at 32Khz or higher with a mono channel.
Products affected
Fifth Generation iPod
iPod Software 1.2
Certain MP3 songs and podcasts with a mono audio channel
Solution
Update to iPod Software 1.2.1 or later using the latest version of iTunes.
One of our listeners, Alec wrote:
"I get no crashes now, even w/ equalizer and soundcheck on."
Be careful though! Since this is a fresh new update, we don't know if there are any new problems. Proceed with caution and make sure to back-up your files if possible. We take no responsiblity for your iPod.
Check out the document about this issue here.

My iPod, I thought, bit the dust yesterday morning. Lately, I have been having quite a few issues with it and ended up having to completely erase it and upload everything again. I was pretty cranky. And I was late to work.
