FOF #436 - Celebrity Bytchfight - 11.30.06

Podcast
Oh no she didn't!
We all watched the car-wreck on our Tivo's as the awkward pairing of Clay Aiken with Kelly Ripa turned for the worst when a frustrated Clay put his hands on Kelly's mouth so he could ask a question to the guests.

Kelly responded by saying "Thats a no-no, I don't know where those hands have been." Which was funny and they got over it and moved on.

Then the following Monday Rosie O'Donnel on the View said that Kelly's comments were "homophobic" and if a straight guy or an attractive guy would have done the same she would have reacted differently. Ouch.

So of course Kelly calls in and the whole group of women have a lovely time talking about gay issues and talk-show propriety all the while Clay Aiken is nowhere to be seen.

Knowing full well what it feels like to be on a talk show where you can't get a word in edgewise, I know the frustration Clay Aiken must have felt at that point in time. But that's what commercial breaks are for. I personally thought it would have been best for him to turn to Kelly and say "Am I doing okay? Because I don't feel like I'm getting much of a chance to ask my own questions on the show, and I would really like to do so."

Listen to today's show as our lovely Miss Ronnie weighs in to talk about talk shows and celebrity bytchfights, Kelly Ripa's hot husband Mark Consuelo, the cancellation of the Big Booty Contest and Prince Harry's Spiderman bedsheets.

A show so good you can almost smell it's delicious aroma- the Feast of Fools.

Marc, do you think you can ask Miss Ronnie to help me with my problem I messaged you about. This may seem little to you, but I go to Catholic school and I don't even know those guys that well. I really don't want this to go around. I'm scared.

Nick, the best thing I can recommend is calling the Trevor project teen helpline: (866) 4U-TREVOR.

If that doesnt work try visiting:
http://www.healthyplace.com/Communities/Gender/gayisok/teen_advice_hotlines.htm

If you don't feel safe, don't come out. Listen to the PFLAG epsidoe with John and Char Cepak.

I would begin by not posting the link to your myspace page. Identify an adult you can trust to confide in, music or art teachers are usually a good bet.

If they ask you if you are gay and you feel unsafe, you don't have to answer the question.

Our thoughts are with you Nick and just know that you can set the current iPods to lock so that nobody can access your iPod. (color screen iPods) If someone is stealing or borrowing your personal property without your permission report them!

You can write to Ronnie directly via her MySpace page and if she chooses to do so she will answer your question. But respect her choice to address or not address your concerns.

This too shall pass...

Patricia Fernos looks so cute in her red tee shirt.

I'm going to side with Rosie on this one. I think that Kelly's comment was at the very least double-edged. I have watched all of one "The View" show - while I was in Chicago - and Rosie said things that aren't being said anywhere else. So I do admire that. Rumors abound publicly about Clay, and so Rosie has something to go on... Rosie was stating that women can also be homophobic.
As far as Clay Aiken's social skills, they ARE lacking and Fausto's suggestion is excellent. Clay, are you listening?

Hey Fausto, Marc and Miss Ronnie. Thanks for the lovely things you said about John and me, podcastsoup.net and soycandlesbyphebes.com today on your show. We're very happy that you liked the christmas package we sent you.

Tell me, the fancy French dark chocolate bar. We spent literally an hour picking that out for Fausto. Was it good? The wrapping was gorgeous, I thought.

I agree with Patricia. When I first saw the clip on youtube I thought Kelly Ripa was making a jab at gay rumors around Clay with the comment, mostly because of the way she mugged it up after she said it.
Still, it was a pretty light jab rather than a knock-out punch and maybe homophobic is too strong a word for it.
Having a secret life opens one up to these kinds of jokes. A lot of humor revolves around saying things you're not supposed to say and I think Kelly Ripa's comment falls right in that catagory. Maybe not nice but to be expected.

Thanks for outing my chocolate consumption Mike. And I would have gotten aawy with it too!

Said by: Marc at November 30, 2006 05:01 PM

LoL Marc... you have to share your secrets with me if you want me to keep them!

While I think the whole thing is very trivial; I too am going to side with Rosie on this one. To me Kelly came across as, at the least, very anti-Clay. Whether that means she is anti-gay? Possibly, possibly not.

Dear Ronnie,
While I always appreciate being mentioned on the show, I think I may have been falsely quoted. You read something regarding Kelly Ripa and Mr. Quarter Turns today, but I don't remember saying that. While it is entirely likely that I have simply forgotten where I wrote those statements, I want to let everyone know, in case someone else deserves the credit.

Love always
XOXO
