FOF #416 - Simply Sara Feigenholtz - 10.26.06

Podcast
People, the November 7th election
is just around the corner and it looks like it's going to be a great big shakedown.

One of the most fabulous and gay friendly politicians in Chicago, my personal favorte politician Rep. Sara Feigenholtz joins us today to talk about how you can get motivated to create change not just in your community, but everywhere.

Taking the personal and making it political, Sara fights for gay rights, the rights of women to control their biological destinies, and for people who were adopted to find their biological parents.

On today's show Ronnie, Marc and I talk with Rep. Feigenholtz about her personal tale of finding her biological mother, and how it impacted her work as a politician. Also the fighting for health care and the FDA, and the hope for a better tomorrow. Will Barack Obama run for President? Listen and see.

Excellent show guys. Throughly enjoyed it. Miss Feigenholtz sounds like a throughly level headed woman and not a politician. One of your best interviews this year.

Great show. Even though I'm a Texan, I like to hear about the politics in other states. Let's hope that Barak, if he runs, wins!

Fausto,

LETS JUST PUT IT OUT THERE, first of all your my fav. And yes I do like catch phrases...but not whenthey are used OVER and OVER and OVER. Just like when you have a favorite song and they overplay it on the radio then you just get sick of it.
THANK GOD Mark has came back..cuz when he was gone you would use it over and over..now since he has been back I have not heard you use it once, music to my ears.
By the way, AWSOME show, love to know there are people like that in politics. Unfortunately Im from Texas..where the evil spawn came from who is currently in office.

LOVE THE SHOW- xoxo Janet

What a breath of fresh air Sara Feigenholtz is! She sounds so comfortable around people that one easily forgets she is a politician. She is level-headed, as was mentioned above, and she seems to be on target on all the right issues. You fabulous bitches in Boystown are lucky to have her on your side. I have been lazy in commenting here but Sara has given me the impetus to return. Today's show was excellent. It is one of the highlights of the year for me.

What are you talking about, she was on the show two days ago (Love State Rep Sara! She is the best.)

Hey guys --

Awesome show. It was amazing to hear Miss Ronnie restrain herself: clearly a tribute to Sara Feigenholtz's charisma!

I'd love to see Barack Obama run and win. Don't know if the USA is ready for that, yet, but he's got charisma, that's for damn sure!

Personally, I'd like to see the Fernos/Felion ticket in '08!

Hugs from San Francisco,
Dex

Another great guest!

I think you asked what an MP was. It stands for Member of Parliament here in the UK. They are elected to represent people in a certain area, you vote for them in local elections, they either belong to a political party or they are independent.

Sara needs to represent PA! or at least give Rick Santorum a much needed beatdown! Sara 4 Prez!

Thanks for another show urging us to consider the issues. I enjoyed hearing Ms. Feigenholtz tell her story about being adopted (given that I am a social worker). I'm a proponent of open adoptions if at all possible and desired. Also, liked the conversation about the president and national issues. Good stuff!

Fausto, Marc and Ronnie... this was a truly WONDERFUL show. I know, I know, I am LATE listening to it... but I've fallen behind, and I need to catch up. So there. :)

I have been a Sara Feigenholtz fan since I travelled with the Chicago Gay Men's Chorus to the state capitol about 5 years ago to sing in support of the equal rights amendment for GLBT people (before it was finally passed). At that event, Sara Feigenholtz spoke, and she was so passionate, so honest, and so REAL with her reasons for supporting the amendment, that for the first time in my life I realized just how important electing a strong politician is, and how important our votes are. Sara consistently gets my vote, and always will... Thank you for bringing her to the FoF family. She makes me proud to be from Illinois.

Great show guys, I am also behind on my listening but I haven't missed a single show for ages and ages. This one belongs in my top five fave. I live overseas but I still vote and we certainly need more politicians like Feigenoltz, Obama and Bernie Sanders from my state, dear true blue Vermont! Keep up the good work. Great to have Miss Ronnie back and Mark back from Europe too, Janet is right Fausto, your little "put it out there" phrase was getting a little too much use. But big thank you to all of you fabulous people who work so hard to make FOF so extraordinary!
