Cocktail: Caramel Apple Martini
We loved the nut covered caramel apples that our friend Jeff brought over the the other day so much. The only problem was that we so so thirsty after eating them.
We decided to stick with the theme and make these delicious Caramel Apple Martinis. Some people are a bit surprised by the addition of Pineapple juice. The Pineapple juice adds another layer of apple taste and gives a wonderfully frothy head to the drink.
Ingredients:
4 ounces Vodka
2 ounces Apple Schnapps
2 ounces Butterscotch Schnapps
Splash of Pineapple juice or Sours Mix
Into a martini shaker add Ice and Vodka, Apple Schnapps, Butterscotch Schnapps
and splash of Pineapple juice our Sours Mix. Shake until well chilled. Pour into a chilled martini glass decorated with caramel swirls. Click on the extended entry for the caramel sauce recipie.

A caramel sauce recipe for this drink or other desserts.
INGREDIENTS:
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup boiling water
PREPARATION:
In a small heavy skillet, melt sugar, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon. When sugar is golden brown, very slowly and carefully stir in the boiling water. Cook for about 3 minutes to soft ball stage*, to about 238° on a candy thermometer.
When the syrup has reached the soft ball stage remove from heat. With a spoon, swirl some of the caramel sauce around the inside of the martini glass. Chill in the freezer until guests arrive. Any
leftover syrup may be reheated and served over ice cream or apple pie.
*soft ball means that when you pour a little bit of the hot mixture in a glass of cold water, the syrup forms a soft ball.

Such a great podcast for halloween. I enjoy the interview with the brit tranny, but the recap of the Jack the Ripper walk reminded me of me doing that tour and being super into it right after I gradutated High School a few years ago. I'm a history and true crime dork so that was great.
Can't wait for tomorrows podcast and still listening to this one,

I forgot to add my bit about how i tried making the drink and I dunno if I did it right, but it sure tasted good. i had quite a few drinks made up, but I really enjoyed this one.
I got to give bratty little (mostly uptight white) kids candy, who were pissed i didn't give them exactly what they wanted. Don't get me wrong, theres a lot of nice kids, but a few who are grabby, bratty and should know better can ruin it. I was tempted to snap at a kid that "hey, this is free, you don't get a choice."
anywho I had a nice, but uneventful halloween, and even though its wasn't a grand party or anything, halloween is my favorite holiday...not sure why...
ok i got to shut up and go to class and then make my mom this drink because today is her birthday and she might as well have a good drink befor going out to dinner, so thanks for helping me make my mom's B-day dinner seem even more specual for her.
ok bye... (shame)
