How would you react if your mother was killed by your brother? On today's Feast of Fools we sit down to talk with former soap star turned painter and author Thom Bierdz about his new "ART-o-biographical" book "Forgiving Troy" about the healing power of forgiveness.
Listen as we talk with Thom and his boyfriend Steve Callahan about being gay in Hollywood, Thom's desicion to leave the acting world, and why Thom Bierdz is one of the few openly gay former soap actors.

FOF #397 - Silence of the Showgirls - 09.27.06

See you tonight. We're putting the finishing touches for our LIVE podcast recording at Micky's in West Hollywood. Will you be there? Click here for a Yahoo map to the place. The fun starts at 8pm, so don't be late!
Amanda Steinstein, Marc Felion, Miss Ronnie, Sal-E and I will all be there along with the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and puppeteers Marsian De Lellis & Heather Heson (of Muppets fame.)
Although we are simply thrilled to be in Los Angeles, right now I am peeing in my pants. My favorite scary movie, Showgirls is being turned into a musical by the same people who made the original film.
The tacky costumes, the horrible dialouge, the unsexy sexy dancing and the rape scene (and the revenge scene) will all be part of the musical version of the notorious Paul Verhoven film that ruined Elizbeth Berkley's acting career and re-invigorated Gina Gershon's.
But before we rush out to buy our tickets for opening night, on today's show Amanda, Marc and I come up with some improvised possible songs they might be using in the musical. We hope you enjoy our original songs "Get the Ice" "Dancing Ain't F*cking" and "You Like Doggie Chow Too?"

Feast of Fools Makes it West Coast Debut
Hello good people of the world, we're putting the final touches for our live show at Miky's in West Hollywood tonight at 8PM, and all I can say is it's going to be a battle of the divas, Miss Ronnie vs. Amanda Steinstein. Now, we are not setting them up for any drama, but, as you know, with these two ladies, anything can happen! Jell-O wrestling anybody?
Marc and I are busy rehearsing our musical number which would make our mama's proud. You are going to love it so get there early so you don't miss it. Sal-E Has been busy applying rhinestones and glittler to his face since he left Chicago. They almost didn't let him board the plane he was so crazy looking. Well, after the full body cavity search, they let him fly. What till you see him and watch his routine. You're going to love it!
There are also rumors that puppeteers Heather Henson and Marsian and the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence are going to drop by for a visit. Hope you can make it!
Be sure to check out the fab article/interviewwritten by Duane Wells at 365Gay.com.
Thank you so much Duane for the lovely article!

FOF #396 - Amanda Loses Her Voice, Almost - 09.26.06

Don't get too excited. Amanda Steinstein just got back from Florida and the poor girl got a terrible cold on the plane!. Nevertheless, our Jewish diva in residence is pushing through the pain to help us homo's put out yet another fabulous award-winning Feast of Fools podcast.
Today's show begins with us opening up some very special packages from our sci-fi minded fans. We are just blown away by the crazy little murderous pepper pots that we received.
Amanda talks about all the "crazy" rules that divers have to go by. Did you know if you found a box full of treasure in a wrecked ship, your not supposed to take it? How crazy is that? I want my pieces of eight!
What do you think Madonna would like in a game of Scrabble? Well, someone in her inner circle wants you to know that she is a bitch at the game. I guess she and guy Ritchie fight over the game all the time. If I could spel, I would challenge her to a game. What's even more of a bitch is poisonous dildoes. Greenpeace has asked the EU to halt production of sex toys that are killing us with toxins.
Elizabeth Taylor, hereby known as "ET" dived with sharks. Why didn't they bite her? Professional Courtesy!
Amanda doesn't drink much, but if she did she wouldn't pass over He'brew, a beer for Jewish people or people who like Jewish... beer?
The podcast that never stops until you are satisfied-the Feast of Fools!

FOF #395 - There is Life on Marsian - 09.25.06

Is there life on Marsian? Our delightfully wacky friend, puppetterr and modern-day Truman Capote Marsian DeLellis comes on the show to talk about puppets, studying theater at Cal Arts, gender, the war in Iraq and his friendship with Heather Henson (Yes, as in Jim Henson. She's his daughter.)
Marsian suprised me with these vintage photos of a collaboration installation we did for my MFA thesis exibition at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. They didn't know what to do with us. Marsian and I drove to the suburbs to get spray paint (you can't buy it in the city) and spent two days painting this huge room SILVER and BLUE. The masks didn't work too well, but the results were fantastic. These two photos are the only pictures I know of the installation. Thanks Marsian!

FOF #394 - Gays on a Plane - 09.22.06

Gays on a plane just might be the best podcast ever made! Last week it was published in the New Yorker magazine a really awful story of a gay couple being seen as a terrorist threat on an airline because a steward was upset at their holding hands, kissing and snuggling on an airplane flight from Paris to New York. (Thanks to Mark Wade for the news!)
Since when was being gay such a big threat to national security?
In other news, ABC television has gone gay this week. With former Gov. Jim McGreevy and American Idol finalist Clay Aiken revealing or denying their personal stories of being gay.
But it seems that the FCC doesn't allow most words used to describe gay sex, and so when talking about it, Jim McGreevey, weather he's on Oprah or the View sounds like a bad cell phone connection.
Oh and Oprah infers that gay relations are "UNATURAL." What do you think of that?
The podcast that is free to be you and me, whenever you want it to be- the Feast of Fools podcast.

FOF #393 - Disco Diva Worship - 09.21.06

Linda Clifford is in the house! And Miss Ronnie couldn't be any happier since Linda is one of her personal divas and best of friends.
Linda is well known R&B, dance and disco singer who had great hit songs in the 70s and 80s: "Runaway Love" and "If My Friends Could See Me Now." Also a former Miss New York State, she fronted a jazz music trio before switching to R&B. In 1979-1980 she hit the Billboard Top 100 twice - peaking at #41 with "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and "Red Light." On the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart she had great success: hitting #1 eight times.
For Ronnie, Linda Clifford's song lyrics beautifully represent a woman's independence and strength and the love of the beat. Today's show features a special ONE-ON-ONE with Miss Ronnie and Linda Clifford. Listen as these two divas dish the dirt on the music industry, reflect on the legacy of Linda's music and the personal impact of AIDS on disco culture.
Also on today's show why variety is the spice of life, tacky tacky art, and half-a-million-dollar cellphones that don't play podcasts or mp3 files.
The sassy diva of podcasting- the Feast of Fools.

FOF #392 - 15 Hours For This!?! - 09.20.06

Does size matter? Marc and I don't seem to think it's important as it is to Ronnie. I think size is relative. Big things appear small to big people, and small things appear big to little people.
It seems like a man in China was the recipient of the world's first penis transplant, and his body didn't rejected it, his MIND did.
Listen to today's show as Miss Ronnie, Marc and I talk about the benefits of keeping an open mind, Clay Aiken possible coming out, and the world's first penis implant.

FOF #391 - Under the Sea with Sal-E - 09.19.06

I'd like to be, under the sea in a... Oh that stupid annoying Ringo Starr/Beatles tune just wont get out of my head, and I think I like it!
Last Saturday Sal-E, Marc and I spent twelve hours gluing on rhinestones, airbrushing, and fluffing up over a dozen women for a lavish nautical themed billionaire birthday party on the south side of Chicago. And no, he didn't contribute to our travel fund. The crime!
Psssst! Hey buddy, can you keep a secret? Listen to today's show as we give you the juicy behind-the-scene details of the ultra-glamorous SECRET party that happened last weekend. Don't worry, it wasn't THAT exciting.
Whats up with secrets and marketing? It seems everyone these days is trying to get you to buy tickets to a movie, listen to a podcast or watch a tv show by telling you "It's a secret!"
Oh sister, PLEASE! When somebody tells you that they have a secret they can't tell you, it's usually because they want you to care about something that if you knew what it was, you wouldn't give a damn about. A real secret is worth hiding.
Click here to check out all the funky pictures from the secret party. Take a look at them, but don't tell anyone! It's a secret.

FOF #390 - A Fate Better Than Death - 09.18.06

A lot of young people are seriously bummed out. So much in fact, that many of them, especially GLBT youth, want to take their own lives.
Writer and humorist Kate Bornstein found this out through meeting people in her lectures at colleges and universities and from doing her live shows.
Because Kate got a sex change twenty years ago, ze considers zirself a young woman.
ZE? No that wasn't a typo. Kate prefers to refer to refer to zirself in a whole new gender neutral pronoun: "ze."
Bornstein's writings bridge the gap between all gays, lesbians, bisexuals, trans and queer people, between man and woman, between old and young and between popular culture and academia.
For the past couple of years, Kate has been collecting thoughts on what alternatives do people have to killing themseles and put them together in a deeply touching, hysterical book: Hello Cruel World: 101 Alternatives to Suicide for Teens, Freaks and Other Outlaws.
The book reads like a How-To "Dummies" manual mixed with anecdotal advice from a person who's been there, mixed with a wonderful sassy-dark humor.
We think this book is a MUST HAVE and are placing it on the Feast of Fools "F-List."
The podcast that puts the T in GLBT- the Feast of Fools! (What the T means is up to you.)

FOF #389 - Hot Latino Blood - 09.15.06

Arnold Schwarzenegger is in heap of trouble, with a sexy twist. The routine process of recording audio from meetings and posting them online as mp3 files for their private staff to access has caused a major political stir when democratic staffers stumbled up them and leak them to the press.
It turns out that the talk on Arnold's private podcast is just as spicy as it is on the Feast of Fools!
On the recording, Arnold speculates about republican state Assemblywoman Bonnie García's ethnicity, talking about how "hot cubans and puertoricans are, because of all the black blood and latin blood they have."
Is this the best they can do? Here is a man who had an opportunity to legally allow gay and lesbian couples to marry in the state of California talking about how sexy he finds latin women AND men with his speech writer. Big deal.
Hate Arnold because he's a lying bigot who thinks of gays and lesbians as political bait, don't hate him because he thinks latinos are hot. Who DOESN'T think puertoricans and cubans are hot?
Join Marc and me as we talk about Madonna's desire to go into outer space, the Russian's desire to send her there, my desire to go with her and why legalizing prostitution helps curb violence, racism and nationalism.
Click here to listen to the audio file in it's entirety. (The spicy stuff is at the end.)

FOF #388 - Meth Madness Part VI - 09.14.06

Are these the faces of meth addicts? Fergie, well known as the female lead singer of the Black-Eyed peas, now on a solo career is suddenly talking about her struggle with crystal meth.
She says "A lot of it was being a child actor: I learned to suppress feelings."
Although her confession seems sincere, it strikes us all over here in podcastland as quite odd that anybody in the entertainment business would want to expose their former substance abuses instead of trying to cover them up.
Ronnie says it's because Fergie is trying to get some "street cred" for her new Album, whose sales are doing quite nicely. But lets face it, Fergie is no meth addict.
But if admitting you have had a drug problem helps raise your ranking on the iTunes music store then I have struggled with poppers and crack, Marc is a former coke-head and Ronnie... well what is Ronnie NOT addicted to?
Join us on today's show as we talk about the Chinese government plans to recreate an old Gilligan's Island episode by sending seeds into space, John Travolta's fat face, and why Starbucks is under attack from people who have nothing better to do with their time.
In case you don't believe me either, here is the link for Gilligan's Planet.

FOF #387 - Set Your iPod on Fun - 09.13.06

"Mom, I'm NOT going to the Star Trek 40th anniversary convention." That's probably what the teenage son was thinking when his mother sewed up costumes for the whole family and took them to the suburbs of Chicago to parade around for strangers to take their picture.
I would be the young girl on the bottom pointing the phaser gun at the camera.
On today's show we're talking to several die-hard star trek fans about their obsession with their favorite film and TV series, why they chose the costumes they wore, and why are they so into it all.
This year the groundbreaking science fiction TV show Star Trek turns 40, and to celebrate they are organizing conferences where the fans can mingle with the actors from the show, show up in costume and relish moments from the program.
But before all that, today's show begins with a nice refreshing gayed up version of the traditional Mojito recipe- the Gay Mojito or "Faustito."
Click here for pictures of the Star Trek 40th Anniversary convention in Chicago, IL.

FOF #386 - Crashing the Ethernet - 09.12.06

"Crashing the Ether" literally means getting airplay on the radio, according to musician Tommy Keene's book of hipster slang. The big irony is that in many ways, Tommy sees himself more and more about the music, not really interested in large-scale mainstream success.
The interesting thing is that after a prolific musical career that spans three decades, this past summer Tommy Keene decided to come out about being gay. Everyone in his personal life and in the music business already knew, but this time he chose to come out publicly about his sexuality.
What made him come out this past summer? Are "superstars" under more pressure to reveal personal aspects of their sexuality than relatively unknown musicians? Join Marc, Gregg and me (Fausto) as we talk to guitar rocker Tommy Keene about his music, how technology has changed his process and his passion for the Beatles.

FOFA #150 - Being at Ground Zero - 09.11.06

Imagine being late to work one morning and noticing that two airplanes are crashing into the World Trade Center in front of you. What would you do? Would you run towards it in fascination or run away from it to safety?
Listen to our conversation with videographer and performance artist Kerthy Fix about her first-hand experience of the events on September 11, 2001 in New York City.
Kerthy talked about the emotional power she felt as she witnessed thousands of people dying and others fleeing for their lives at a single moment in time.
We figured since CNN has been showing 9/11 footage, we'd re-run this classic episode as well.

FOF #385 - Backstage Confidential - 09.08.06

The Miss Continental Pageant is one of the world's largest drag queen (or female illusionists as they like to say) beauty pageants. It attracts thousands of hopeful "divas" from around the country as they represent their communities in this fierce battle for the rhinestone tiara and sash.
In many respects, like videographer Kerthy Fix said on tuesdays program "FOF #382 - Let Beauty Set You Free" a lot of the people who participate in these pageants do so because of the support they get from their friends and family, and because it makes them take themselves seriously and work on themselves, either on a superficial level or a deeper more intellectual level.
People participate in pageants because it builds their self esteem.
And so on today's show, our in-house resident fashion/hair expert Sal-E comes to dish the dirt and share the gossip of helping his sisters backstage at the Miss Continental pageant 2007. (I guess they count the following year, not the year to end.)
Contratulations to winner Victoria Le Paige who won (she's pictured to the right.)
Listen to today's show as we talk about the different levels of drag, the idea to LOOK like a glamorous woman, dead men on the train, and Sal-E's sisters trip to Hawaii where she kicked ass windsurfing.

FOF #384 - Fausto in Outer Space - 09.07.06

William Shatner, the guy famous for playing Captain Kirk on the television and film series Star Trek, has recently rejected Sir Richard Branson's offer of making him one of the first passengers of Virgin Galactic's first flight in 2008.
But the man who boldly went where nobody went before wants to keep his feet firmly on the ground.
"I'm interested in man's march into the unknown but to vomit in space is not my idea of a good time. Neither is a fiery crash with the vomit hovering over me." Says William Shatner.
Hey RIchard! I'll take you up on that challenge. I want to be the first podcaster in outer space! Can I? Please? I've seen your reality tv shows, so I'm already used to puking. To dream, the impossible dream...
Listen to today's show as Gregg Shapiro joins Marc and I to talk about nail art, outer space, Katherine Harris and why so many of our fabulous listeners live in that little part of the country between New York and L.A. called AMERICA!

FOF #383 - Heaven is Burning - 09.06.06

Willi Ninja just passed away, Steve Irwin got hit by a sting ray and I'm not feeling to good myself.
But the podcast goes on people.
We want to take a moment to acknowledge the incredible contributions that Willi Ninja did to the New York nightclub scene and to the world of dance. Mr. Ninja, a legendary figure in the ballroom community of New York City and one of the featured dancers of the documentary Paris is Burning (a must see) passed away at the age of 44.
Willi Ninja spent the last decade of his life teaching runway models and runaway kids how to walk with style, dignity and class. We were lucky to have been able to meet Mr. Ninja in New York City when we were there last April and know he will be missed by everyone.
On todays show Miss Ronnie joins Marc and I to talk about our fabulous fat bodies, why we all need fashion help bad, the untimely deaths of Steve Irwin and Willi Ninja, and our best wishes to Rosie O'Donnell and her return to daytime television.
Click here to see a movie of Willi Ninja on YouTube.

FOF #382 - Let Beauty Set You Free - 09.05.06

Video artist Kerthy Fix was leery when she went on assignment to follow Miss South Carolina 1986 pageant winner Dawn Smith Jordan around for the reality TV show "What Not To Wear." She discovered that for many women in the South, being in a pageant is actually liberating for them:
"They all told me that having to have a platform, having to read the paper and know about current affairs, having to have talent and the interview process in a lot of these pageants is the most heavily scored part. And that is invisible to the TV viewer. You don't see the judges interview the contestants. And in the Miss America system it's extremely important because they don't want some bimbo out there, they want somebody intelligent who can speak well.
All these women were saying 'Once I got trough that system nobody could intimidate me. Job interviews were a breeze, I could speak to a room full of people.' It was interesting to find out this is why women stay in these pageants."
Listen to today's show as we talk with video artist Kerthy Fix who recently spent the last month in South Carolina as the field producer for the Learning Channel's Reality program What Not to Wear.
Kerthy and the production team followed three 40 something moms who competed together in the 1986 Miss South Carolina pageant and were asked 20 years later to recreate the experience in front of a crowd of 3000 people.
What Not To Wear: "Pageant Rewind" airs this Friday Sept. 8 on The Learning Channel at 8pm, 11pm and again on Sunday at 2pm, eastern standard time.

If we ever get married, it's going to be a huge spectacle, and we're going to market the hell out of it. Pay per view folks! FOF #381 - John Travolta's Kiss - 09.04.06

We've received dozens of emails telling us about the National Enquirer's cover this week, featuring a stalker's photograph of actor John Travolta and a hunky blond man kissing as they board his private 707 airplane in Hamilton, Ontario.
Is this proof that John Travolta is gay and loving it?
Some are denying the image, saying that the kiss is a still shot of a scene from an up and coming movie, and others say it's a platonic friendly kiss.
I personally don't think its much to get excited about either, since the kiss seems chummy, the way two sensitive actor types would kiss each other. There's no tongue. No groping, ho hanky panky.
The picture looks like sasquatch could walk in the frame at any second, and nobody would notice.
But the gossipy sites all excited and tantalized about the possibility that Travolta is not only gay, but has a relationship with another man.
On our own show comedian Bruce Villanch spoke candidly about John Travolta, saying he was gay at one point in his life, but now lives with a woman. Good for you J.T.!
Who cares if John Travola is gay or not? His church does. You see, Mr. Saturday Night Fever is an avid follower of sci-fi writer L. Ron Hubbard's Church of Scientology, where he wrote in his book Dienetics "The sexual pervert (and by this term Dianetics, to be brief, includes any and all forms of deviation in dynamic two such as homosexuality, lesbianism, sexual sadism, etc., and all down the catalog of Ellis and Krafft-Ebing) is actually quite ill physically."
I don't get it either. But all you ting-a-lingers are quite low on his "tone scale." Or so they say. Then again, there are other gay scientologists who say their religion isn't homophobic at all. They call themselves CLEARrainbow. Clear=good, just like Crystal Pepsi. How about some Kabbalah branded holy water?
Sometimes I wonder if all these celebrities who follow their kooky religions are just faking it to try to connect with America's own fascination with religion.
The podcast that entertains you by any means necessary- the Feast of Fools.
