FOF #393 - Disco Diva Worship - 09.21.06

Linda Clifford is in the house! And Miss Ronnie couldn't be any happier since Linda is one of her personal divas and best of friends.
Linda is well known R&B, dance and disco singer who had great hit songs in the 70s and 80s: "Runaway Love" and "If My Friends Could See Me Now." Also a former Miss New York State, she fronted a jazz music trio before switching to R&B. In 1979-1980 she hit the Billboard Top 100 twice - peaking at #41 with "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and "Red Light." On the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart she had great success: hitting #1 eight times.
For Ronnie, Linda Clifford's song lyrics beautifully represent a woman's independence and strength and the love of the beat. Today's show features a special ONE-ON-ONE with Miss Ronnie and Linda Clifford. Listen as these two divas dish the dirt on the music industry, reflect on the legacy of Linda's music and the personal impact of AIDS on disco culture.
Also on today's show why variety is the spice of life, tacky tacky art, and half-a-million-dollar cellphones that don't play podcasts or mp3 files.
The sassy diva of podcasting- the Feast of Fools.

Ms. Clifford, Ms. Ronnie,
Amen! Amen, amen, amen! You nailed it on house music! I love house and the new stuff does not have that quality of the 'old school' house. When Ms Clifford's song came on this morning, i got chills, chills! It was incredible. There are not any kids these days that can belt it out like her and they don't have the story there either. I was sad that the interview was so brief, but glad to hear from her.
Ms. Ronnie, you know exactly what to say. One thing in particular stuck with me, "The technology is advancing, but not the sense of humanity." Which is so true. I would go one further and say 'common sense' also is not advancing, but that's my opinion. Thanks for having Mc Clifford on and spreading the house joy. A morning with such soulful house is indeed a perfect way to start. Thanks!

Aaaaalrigggght Ms. Ronnie!
Excellent interview and I couldn't agree with you more on the songs of today vs. the -gulp- oldschool days (I really hate having the songs I grew up with called "oldschool"). It seems that the "artistry" has dissappeared and the "artists" of today are only out to make the almighty buck without the real art. Corporations are only interested in "manufacturing" their so called "artists" to making them the bucks. Real artists are far and between and I always appreciate when they pop back into the limelight!
Thanks again girl! We'll see you in LA.. and hopefully not still in a FedEx box...
Travel safely everyone and we'll see you on Wednesday!
Your pal,
Buzz

Actually Fausto, it's $300.000 - not half a million for the fabulous Black Diamond phone and the specs are right there on the VIPN page: http://www.vipn.ch/uk/indexuk.htm ;o)

I read in the entertainment section of the SFGate today that Clay actually just gave a press conference where he said he was straight and talked about some class action law suit from his fans that are upset at the gay rumors? Anyone heard of that?
