FOF #347 - Stretching for the Gay Games - 07.18.06

Gay Games Week is here in Chicago, and we've been invaded with legions of handsome gay men (and lesbians) from all around the world. We're NOT complaining.
Our Mexican-American regular César Torres has gone downtown and registered to participate in the Gay Games triathlon. The interesting thing is that he's already gotten his "participatory medal" which they give to all the athletes when they pay their $195 registration fee plus $35 event charge.
The Gay Games may very corny bun in realty it's a complex mix of wholesome gay men and lesbians coming together to celebrate and compete in an embracing environment where everyone is welcome.
At the end of a race your boyfriend comes out of the stands and hugs and kisses you. Thats really cool.
Today Sal-E and César Torres reflect on the up and coming Gay Games, religious symbols in gay culture, a new documentary about Sal-E you wont be seeing anywhere soon, and why Madonna nor Kathy Griffin will perform anywhere for less than 30 grand.
Stay tuned this week for special behind the scenes interviews with gay games athletes, the opening ceremony, fans and people from far off as Sri Lanka, South Africa, and the Philippines.
We've got the Windy City covered folks on the Feast of Fools podcast!

Those "I See Black People" ads have been on buses here in NYC for a few months now actually. I believe that the network being advertised is called TV-One. If you look carefully at the logo, you can distinguish an "O" made out of dots or something, with "ne" written in normal script. I'll look more carefully next time, but that was what I took from the ad.

Kids! I did it! I finished the triathlon and set a personal best for myself, shaving 15 minutes time off my previous triathlons.
Got a couple of pics in my Flickr. Will post more!

YAY for Cesar! Congrats buddy! I'm currently in training for the AIDS Life Cycle 2007 and look forward to completing 585 miles from San Francisco to LA in 7 days and this will be my first try!
SAL... Woof boy! You keep this up and people will talk! Great hearing my boy on the show. Someday, I'll get out to Chicago and see you.
Fausto... Naturally, another terrific show! I love it when you "freeform" and just chat. You're all hysterical!
Well, gotta get back to work!
Keepin it kinky,
your devoted listener,

Fausto, a few questions...
1) In terms of European sizes how do the American sizes of your t-shirts differ e.g. in the UK I'm a small/medium so that would be?
2) Is it $40 via paypal to feastoffools@gmail.com?
3) How much is it for P&P to the UK
(I'm finally about to get paid 'real' money for the 1st time in over a year so I need to know so I can wear the FOF out and about in the gay clubs of london) x

Ooooh Gary! Can't wait to see a picture of you wearing the blue and lovely Feast of Fools t-shirt.
I would say: if you're 5'11, have a 33 inch waist and 41 inch chest and weigh around 180 lbs, a medium would be tight but flattering on you. (that's me)
Anything smaller I would go with a small t-shirt.
Please add $10 for international shipping please.
Thanks Gary!!!

Congratulations, Cesar! You EARNED that medal.
A bit of encouragement (sorry, it's a little late now), courtesy my high school swim team coach:
BTTW, baby!
[BTTW = Balls to the Wall]
Probably more appropriate for those of the male persuasion... but it worked for me anyway.
Ovaries to the wall, ladies!
I've seen some Gay Games softball and flag football these past two days. It's Dykes Around the World down here in Hyde Park! A beautiful thing.
At one of the football games, I was introduced to a friend of a friend who happens to be Ellen Rosner's partner.
Six degrees of FOF!

Congrats Cesar on your record time! Thanks so much for the shoutout on today's show. Fausto, I promise you that if I had the time and the money (remember I'm still in college and do a sport and work) I would be flying out to Chi-Town in a heartbeat's timespan to hangout with you, Marc, Cesar, Sal-E, Amanda, Ronnie, V-Marr, and whoever else of your fabulous cohort I may be forgetting. In the mean time, I will be forced to make do by just hearing your fabulous voices in my ears at work in the morning as I try to refraim from laughing out loud and embarrassing myself. Until I make it to Chicago (or you guys do another meet-and-greet in NYC) I bid you all ado.

one of the funnist podcast i've heard in weeks. whenever there is 3 people for the FOF is always good. I was cleaning my old neighbor ladies house while listening to you guys and she kept checking up on me cause I kept laughing.
Sal-e and Cesar our fabulous guests/sometimes co-hosts... i'm sad marc wasn't there, but he had work and it was tons of fun to listen to even without marc to mess with you guys.
Sal-E is extremly interesting and I love his stories. I can't fogret Cesar..honey I'm So damn proud of you. with you and fausto talking about loosing weight so much i'm doing all that healthy shit too...for shame..lol....but it seriously was a ubergreat podcast that I needed and I am so proud of Casar and happy that a article i read somehow got your attention as well (aids charity/reggae singers)..well done blabbing and confusing all of ya'll.
Later, Rochelle

Hello to the FOF crew!
Great to hear Miss Ronnie back on the air. I have missed the BMW! I know that Miss Ronnie had a lot of personal stuff, as she said on the show the other day, to Miss Ronnie - take time out if you need, we as your fans and friends will always be there and we understand that everyone needs timeout. But it is so good to hear you bad keeping the lads in line - only you can do it girl! Just love the so un PC chit chat. You quite often say what most of us think, or if not you guys get me thinking. All your shows show like you are having friends arounds having a few drinks and enjoying a good time and I have the luck to be there listening and enjoying the chat. Just a quick note to let you know that I really enjoy all the shows and the regular guests (like Amanda, Sal E, and the ever cute Cesar!) Keep up the good work - you guys make the journey to work all that more bearable - especially on the hot days we are having over here in London (36.2 C today), and the public transport system does not know what air conditioning is! Would love to see you do a podcast over here in London - & before you ask me to pay - I am a poorly paid nurse at King's College Hospital, so I can't pay for your tickets. You could always ask Apple/iTunes to pay some sponsorship money towards your trip! Looking forward to hearing your next show and enjoying it on th etrain journey to work - I am sure the other passengers think I am slightly mad as I am usually laughing while listening to your show. Keep up the podcast! Fausto & Mark - both SO hot!

Hey Paul, I think all us FOF fans in London need to get together and figure out how we can get these wonderful people over for a meet n'greet! I'm somewhat of a frequent flier from Chicago to London, and I can say for certain that Air India is the absolute cheapest round trip you can get. I'm also a poorly paid NHS employee, so I can't contribute much money (but I did buy a t-shirt already!)--though anyone from FOF is welcome to skip the expense of a hotel and stay with me and hubby out in the Zone 4 ghetto of Woolwich. One caveat, V-Marr couldn't dress up as Ann Coulter in the house--that's just far too frightening! ({P.S. what the frock was up with that weather today? 97 degree heat is NOT what I moved across the pond for. . .)

Sarah and Craig, email me if you have any questions. BTW, we actually enjoyed the Jamie's lil' rant.
Said by: Marc at July 21, 2006 01:26 PM
Sal E shouldn't be allowed to discuss things he doesn't know about. Learn to pronounce "Kazakhstan", a person cannot be "Arabic", and how ignorant does he sound applausing people who can read semetic (right to left) languages,? A language is a language... I'm sure people in the Middle East are just as confused by printed English—go read a book Sal, you'll make for much better listening. [And for the record, I'm a gay white male with no stake in Arab culture, so I don't take your ignorance personally, but I'm am grossed-out nonetheless.]
