FOF #336 - Secrets of the Cliteratti - 06.26.06

We live in one of the greatest neighborhoods in the world, well at least we think so because every year the Dyke March passes right in front of our home on their way to Hollywood Beach to celebrate lesbian deliciousness and congregate in the sun and fun.
Join Marc and me your flaming blue pal Fausto as we walk with the fabulous dykes all the way to the edge of Lake Michigan.
Pictured on the right is the USA Brigade whose purpose is to "reclaim patriotism and the American flag" hanging out at the Chicago Dyke March after Marc event at Hollywood Beach. More photos to come on Wednesday!

Can I just say that I LOVE the PFLAG contingent in the Pride parade? They make me cry, every year. They are so awesome.
Thanks for covering the dyke march again, and talking about the KFC-ification of Pride. We missed out on the hot dyke action because we were out of town on Saturday. But we listened to your Gaye Adegbalola interview during our drive to Michigan -- she rocks!
Speaking of silver beavers, I have one in my pocket right now:
The Canadian nickel sports a shiny silver beaver on one side, and our other furry friend, Queen Elizabeth II, on the other. So cute!
My partner and I just honeymooned in Toronto, and went to city hall to get our marriage certificate, which was a really moving experience. Plus, there were 2 canadian women getting married right after us, and they asked us to be their witnesses!
I highly recommend getting married in Canada -- it is so normalized there, not an issue at all. This random woman in the elevator was congratulating us afterwards. (Canadians ARE super polite -- it's true!) Just make sure you call ahead to make an appointment with the marriage officiant ... there are more steps involved than I'd realized.

I wish we could have stayed around for Pride in Toronto... they actually have GAY artists performing! Including the supernova, rock-your-panties-off Toshi Reagon. Have you guys thought about having her on the show?

Fun show..I had planned on going to see the march but missed it!
You looked great at the parade yesterday Fausto. I made sure to pass out your cards for you.
Oh and you're always making the joke about people saying you look better in pictures..well my good friend who was next to me said "that's him? (looking at the card) he's sooo much cuter in person!" Although, he is legally blind in one eye and was drunk..but he did say it! :) I kid! I kid! hehhe
Keep up the good work guys!

FAUSTO!!! It's Anders and it was great meeting you at the parade. I was so excited (read as drunk) that I didn't get a chance to introduce myself. You handed me a FOF button when I mentioned Feast of Fools in front of the Shell station on Halsted. I want you to know that I handed out each and everyone of your fliers to anyone who would take them. Love you, Marc, Amanda, Ronnie, V-Marr, oh, and the show!!!

Regarding the drop in ranking on iTunes, I must admit I feel a bit guilty... cause I stopped using iTunes to download the podcast. My crappy iRiver for some reason cannot play the FOF MP3 files, so I had to transcode each episode to Ogg Vorbis (my preferred format anyways); gosh can I sound any geekier than that!? iTunes won't allow me to do that without transcoding each manually.
Long story short, I wrote my own RSS podcast receiver, so that after I download the podcast, it will automatically transcode it to Ogg Vorbis, so I don't have to go through the morning rush to hurry up to manually transcode it, then copy it to my iRiver before I go to work.

Fausto, let me comment firstly on how great you looked on your video podcast “A blind Date with Esther” Up close you look great with those pearly whites and lovely eyes, I always had Mark down as the one I’d like to fuck but you my friend have just got lucky. Move over Mark is there room for a threesome?
So as you have guessed, I’m slightly behind the times with your podcast calendar, I’ve just managed to buy myself a new laptop after the whole problem (February’s show) and decided to update my Feast of Fools podcasts. It’s been a blast listening to you fruits once again.
I think I have fallen in love with SAL-E’s voice (Ask him will he make a recording for my phone on the show so I can cut it onto my house answering phone) and it’s great to hear Amanda Steinstein voice coming though the phone lines, Love ya. (A friend of mine’s has the exact same accent as her, so my ears where pre- conditioned) God I was Lucky.
Miss Ronnie good luck with the studies, I’m praying for ya.
And Vmar, what can I say?
Away way guys great to hear you’s are still no.1 and I’m still spreading the word of this great podcast. I’m moving back to my home town in Ireland in a few weeks, wish me luck. The only good thing about moving back home is that I'll be able to look at the stars and see the biggest star shinning and that’s you Vmar. You make make laught so much and I offer my strength up to you. I hope you live out yours dreams, you’re a real trooper, you have given hope to the hopeless…. While stealing their TV’s …..joke, . Kiss Kiss I wish you all the best.
I’m off to listen to more god little angles. That spread the Good Gay Word.
Give me a shout out;
Love spike. (Now Single, if anybody is interested?)

I am a little behind, but I just listened to the million minge march today and wanted to comment about why pride events don't have gay performs. It's not just self-hate (if it was we would be booking Jennifer Love Hewitt or the Fray). They don't book gay acts because gay people are just like straights, we don't actively search for good preformers if they aren't mentioned in Us or People every week gay people have know idea who they are. Yeah it would be nice to get talented gay people as performers such as Final Fantasy or the Didty Bops but organizers are afraid they won't bring in the crowd (despite the fact that the reason everyone shows up is for a chance at dick not because of whose performing).
Said by: Mitchell Hurricane at June 29, 2006 06:25 PM
I'm hard to shock. But Fausto's tasteless remarks on show # 339 reveal him to be someone whe gay community can do without. We don't need such WOULD BE G-list preening self-styled celebrities. When others spew homophobic crap, they are made to apologise. Who does this vile little 'fessa' think he is?
