FOF #330 - Can We All Just Get Along? - 06.16.06

A heated conversation builds around a fan Timmy Gilmore's letter about being hated because you look gay. I've always felt that the biggest obstacle gay people face is other gay people.
This lead us to talk about the nature of conflict and dramatization, and how it's inevitable. Whats avoidable is how we deal with conflict and how we overcome our differences.
Lots of talk about conflict in everyday life and in the political spectrum, and why Amanda Steinstein should be in the Alivn Ailey dance company. They have white people dancing with them now.
What would you do for $10,000 dollars? What's the most humiliating or unlikely behavior you will do for ten "G"s?
Marc does a lot of window shopping as he eyes the guys walking down the street. He tries to find one for Amanda but darn is she picky!
Lots of talk about circumcision. A divorced couple is arguing in court about wether to circumcise their kid or not. Why won't people just leave their dicks alone? Well, because they're fun to play with, but do we really need to take a foreskin to court?
We talk about the Michael L. Jackson trial which is getting under way and other crazy stories of people gone mad- like the man who attacked Amanda, the man who attacked a family at a shopping mall and the people that attacked Kevin Avaince and oh, Madonna shopping at H&M.
The podcast that does more "Quarter Turns" than a vending machine- the Feast of Fools!

Thanks for reading my email (yay Amanda reading it), even if you said my partner was indeed a purvert/weirdo :-( . Ah well.
Loving the show, keep it up

"Quarter Panel," Marc being the victim of a "love crime" and "kissing him with my fists," three of the funniest things ever on FoF within 30 seconds of each other. Now that's good podcasting!

Amanda's "quarter turns" remark at the top of the episode reminded me of something funny that happened at work last night:
I was putting up sale signs on our refrigerators last night, when I came to one sign for a refrigerator with a water filter. The sign actually said "1/4 turn filter removal" on the product features section. It made me wonder if there is a faithful listener at our corporate office.

Amanda's British accent was excellent. I thought Princess Margaret rose from the dead.
The ageism with a lot of homos is annoying at the least. I'm 44 and never looke better in my life. Youth is wasted on the young. Is that reverse ageism?
Can Fausto imitate Leslie from Will and Grace?

Every time I hear the phrase "quarter turns" I think of the Feast of Fools. QUARTER TURNS!

Things I got when I turned 25:
- Better insurance rates and cheaper car rentals (I am magically safer and more responsible)
- A house
- A name change (I used to be psyton, but I've since consolidated)
- An associational break between me and all the 18-24 year olds that are considered immature and otherwise histrionic.
So happy to be 25 now :D

Love the show, any show with Amanda is a real treat and really got me in the mood to go to Pride tonight! Seeing Levi Kreis and Eric Himan and couldn't be more excited. I'm so glad you guys gave them exposure and now I'm totally in love with them both. I'll be wearing my FOF T-Shirt to show my love for my favorite Gay Podcast. Thanks for putting a little gay in this straight girls day :)

Hey guys... sorry I missed the show today.
Have you heard of anybody commenting on not being able to pull up your page in the morning? For the past three days I haven't been able to d/l the show in the morning because the page wouldn't load.
I have been having to come home at lunch to d/l the show... today it just happened that I didn't come home for lunch.

Unless the listeners tell us, we don't know something's wrong. From our end everything looks good. I always download the shows in the morning too... Don't know what to say mike, has your ISP or IT tech blocked us? Heaven forbid. Please let me know if you learn anything else.

As I heard you lamenting your plummeting ratings, all I could think was "Well, duh. Miss Ronnie, the show's real power star, hasn't been on in WEEKS." Your ratings will go back up once you get Miss Ronnie back on the show a couple of times a week. Your recent guest hosts (particularly the ones that Fausto drags home from work like Caesar and Matthew)are just kind of dull. Amanda Steinstein is the only guest you've had on lately with any real personality or sparkle. That said, the interview with George Takei was almost enough to get me to buy a t-shirt. If I didn't find your t-shirts so...amateurish and unattractive, I would have bought one months ago. I'm perfectly willing to pay $40 for a t-shirt, but only if it's attractive or cool. Your shirt designs are kind of dull and way too topical. Who's going to want to be wearing a "quarter turns" shirt a year from now once what's-his-name's career and orientation are lost in the rapidly shifting sands of pop culture?
You boys had better get your butts in gear and deliver us some Ronnie, or folks are going to start thinking that the Feast of Fools has jumped the shark. And no one really wants that, now do we?
Acidly yours,
Anton
