Save the Internet
If you love listening to podcasts, please read this and take action!
Although this may be yet another wedge issue designed by Republicans in Congress to distract us from the War in Iraq and the rising price of gas, it will hurt us all if this passes.
Congress is working on behalf of powerful lobby groups to pass a radical law next week that gives giant corporations like AT&T more control over what we do and see on the Internet. Some internet providers like AT&T are lobbying Congress to gut "Network Neutrality" which is considered to be the Internet's First Amendment and the key to Internet freedom. Net Neutrality prevents AT&T from choosing which websites open most easily for you based on which site pays AT&T more money. At this point in time, BarnesandNoble.com doesn't have to outbid Amazon for the right to work properly on your computer, but this could all change if the bill passes. In the future, company's would have to pay the telecom industry to have their sites available at optimal levels. You can bet they will try to interfere with your ability to download podcasts.
If Net Neutrality is gutted, many sites--including Google, eBay, and iTunes--must either pay protection money to companies like AT&T or risk having their websites process slowly. That why these high-tech pioneers, plus diverse groups ranging from MoveOn to Gun Owners of America, are opposing Congress' effort to gut Internet freedom.

I've forwarded all the info to all of my friends and posted on various messages boards. I also called the representative of my state. Hopefully the word spreads like fire.

Thanks George! I hope the Republicans know that this is a sword that cuts both ways. It hurts everyone who wants to have people look at their website.

this is insane! I don't see how this could even be presented this is the basic right to the internet, we already pay money to our service providers so that sites load quicker. I don't understand how they can even do this. And of course my rep here in KY voted for it. I will e-mail and call him as well, thanks for bringing this to the attention of everyone. I really really don't understand this government.

such bullshit, I'm a bit pissed that No One for Minnesota voted on this at all, but I think thsi is complete shite. thats like corperations saying its ok for the man to rule us like the cattle they wish us to be. Yes, i don know I sound kinds like a black panther hippie, but you know what, they do so much shite that we have to fight this and the other disstractions so we can't remember we should impeach bush. I am Sooooo pissed off. Sorry to those who are reading this but I am getting so fed up with all this. I might have to start the revolution .

Right on Rochelle. I will join the revolution you start. Hell, I may start one of my own in my lovely state of Oklahoma. The bullshit seems to have no end in this messed up little slice of heaven we call America. This state is so convservative. Did you know that it was only last year that we finally got a lotter going and we are the only state (that I know of) that doesn't allow tatooing. We were the last state to not have the lottery. I swear this state is so backwards to me. Oh well, I love you guys Fausto and Marc. You boys are so hot to me and I wanna have your babbies some day!! j/p btw

What are butt babies? I've heard you mention them in the podcast before but I never understood what those are. I probably sound so dumb for asking, but I don't understand :'(

don't worry I'll start the revolution and try to make sure people know what its about. Its totally normal for a 20 year old chick to start a revolution right? ok then. I'm seriously getting fessed up with it and trying to form a group for anyone who sees all the properganda and news reels just going in cirles and nothing changing. you know its sad when a comedian who died 12 years ago (Bill Hicks) is yelling about the goverement in his old stand up and its the same f*cking thing now. (sigh). Thanks Fausto and Bobby for not laughing at my ass for ranting and as soon as I form my basic ideas and work off others who feel the same way , I'll tell you more.......
oh and Bobby butt babies is fausto's way of saying doing it up the ass doesn't bring kids, or at least they don't live past being in the ass. isn't that it Fausto? I could be off a bit.
