FOF Archive - Riding Rosie - 05.24.06

We've been busy trying to get ready for the Apple Store event on Saturday, so please enjoy this classic Feast of Fools episode: "Riding Rosie."
One of our most requested shows, "Riding Rosie" was originally posted May 5, 2005.
Listen to our play by play coverage of Rosie O'Donnell's triumphant return to television, as she plays an autistic woman who's father dies and needs her uptight sister (played by Andie McDowell) to take care of her and reconcile their differences (fat/skinny, rich/poor, straight/gay, vanilla/freaky, ikea/michaels arts and crafts)
Also, Victoria Lamarr talks about her theatrical troupe, Scrap Mettle Soul, a theater company composed mostly of the mentally and physically disabled, as well as several homeless people. What a gay podcast!
The revolution will not be televised, but it's now available for download FREE on iTunes Music Store in the form of the Feast of Fools podcast.

hey guys~
I really liked the show today. It makes me happy to hear that Rosie has a career again and not living off of enough money she made when she had a show. It sounded like a really good movie! Well I work with mentally handicapped children in my school and I just love doing it. They have so much teach me. About how sensitive people can really be. Loved it! Neways, I gotta jet just wanted to wish you guys a beautiful day!

The intro was pure hilarity, really needed that laugh today.
I think when I first saw this movie that I was going to be one of the few people that saw it because I turned it on so randomly, and I thought to myself oh this truly is a comedic gem, but then there was a flurry of news items everywhere about it, I guess Rosie is, or was, back!!!
Good luck in your prep for the apple store visit.

Brilliant! I loved this show, listening the V Marr play a foul mouthed mentally challenged woman made my afternoon. How many other fabulous episodes have I missed because I was Ipodless, damn!

Oh so many memories. This was the first Feast of Fools podcast I heard (when it was originally posted). It is an unforgetable show, and I will always remember this one as my first. Ever since that day I was hooked and have not missed on podcast.
It is also interesting to hear the difference in format from way back then to now (before the RIAA got to you! bitches...)
Thanks guys for brightening by day and doing it every day.

Hi FOF - ettes,
Just a note to say thanks for the hilarity, keeping me abreast of happenings back home and helping me to forget how far I am away from home! Wishing you continued success from across the oceans, in Melbourne, Australia...

That was reallly strange, I was listening to this on Tuesday from a past show on my ipod and then yesterday it appeared on my Itunes, it was kinda freaky haha. Only since I had already listened to it the day before I was FOFless for the day. But it's a great show, had me laughing so hard.

Oh man, is V-Marr talking about that Juliette Lewis movie, The Other Sister? If so, I have super-awkward memories of watching that movie with my mom shortly after I came out to her (which she REALLY didn't take very well) ...
... There is a subplot about Juliette Lewis' older sister being a lesbian, and how their mom has never acknowledged her relationship with her partner. So Juliette Lewis' character wants to get married but they tell her she can't because she's mentally challenged, and her sister wants to get married but can't because the family is in denial that she's a lesbian.
I was sitting there next to my mom, and the lesbian subplot rolled out -- surprise! -- and we just sat there trying not to make eye contact for another hour, just thinking, please let it be over. After that, my mom made some comment about how she "can't watch movies like that anymore."
Yikes.
