FOF #314 - Castraticast - 05.22.06

We're so excited because today we have one of the world's oldest and most famous Castrati, the incomparable Alessandro Moreschi, pictured on the right. Click on the audio file at the bottom of the Wikipedia page for Moreschi to hear him sing. It's freaky.
Alessandro joins his lesser known Castrato singing buddies, Carlo Cortaballi and Benito Nonutzis to talk about his new album of religious music.
Also Marc, Fausto and V-Marr talk tons about suicide, gay teens, Star Trek's up and coming 40th anniversary events, Christie's Star Trek garage sale, and Albert Perry the 75 year old bodybuilder, pictured here.
If you're a gay teen contemplating suicide, call The Trevor Project- operates the nation's only round-the-clock, toll-free suicide prevention hotline for GLBTQQ youth. (1-866-4-U-Trevor)
Come see a live recording of the Feast of Fools podcast at the Apple Store, Saturday May 27th from 7-8pm! Best of all it's FREE.

hey guys!
what a great show...awesome topics! First I want to comment on the sex change...don't you think that would hurt?! OMG...no offense but I wouldn't ever do that to myself. Second. I do have a Louis Vuitton iPod holder and it is about the same..within 50 bucks of eachother. So if you want it go to the Louis Vuitton store WITH your iPod because they will ask for measurements and it will help to have it there. Third, being a gay teen I understand everything that Cameron is going through. Hey Cameron if you are reading these I am here for you. I have gone through the same problems you have and honey, it will get better. Trust me. I was a "big boned" gay teen and I also come from a rural city in nowheresville, iowa..seriously..i understand. I know what it feels like. I was also suicidal. But you know what?? I made it through. You can too. If you need someone to talk to, just hit me me...and that goes for everyone out there. If you are feeling pretty insecure about yourself and you just feel six feet from the edge...babies hit me up. I am online often enough to answer your concerns within 24 hours. I wrote a letter to Fausto and Mark about how I overcame my fears and it helped me. Just to get it out. So do that...maybe it will help you too. Keep your chin up because you are fabulous to this world. I am here for you!
Lastly, I want to mention Gay-Straight Alliances. Start them! I did! So you have to do it too! It's not tolerance I am preaching it is acceptance. ACCEPTANCE! WE ARE ALL HUMANS SO TREAT EVERYONE LIKE ONE! Thank you Fausto, Mark, and VMARR for bringing up these issues which are so important to me and many more people out there. I am sorry that I won't be able to make it to the Apple Store for your Meet n' Greet, I am in Germany. I am sure that it will be fun! The Feast of Fools: Keeping it FIERCE!!!!
Lots of Love You Guys!

Hey guys, thanks for bringing up the gay suicide topic, just a good thing to talk about once in a while. I must say though that FOF is the best anti-depressant I've come across. YAY for Marc, Fausto, Vmarr, Miss Ronnie, Amanda, Matt, Jason, Sal-E, and everyone else I forgot!

Hey guys...
Great show. I was going to bring you a few things (no soap or body care stuff this time) but wasn't sure you'd want to lug it around.....
I was going to come early for pictures and then split before the show. Nik is only 7 and gets antsy and your last few meet and greet broadcast seemed to be loud (not that there is anything wrong with that ... I'm just more low key and Nik is a bit shy).
Advice Fausto / Marc????

That has to be the most annoying intro y'all have put together since I started listening last fall.
Said by: Anna at May 23, 2006 01:54 AM
Anna,
Annoying in a good way or a bad way? What's not funny about Castrati? They have no balls!

Sorry V.Mar:
I won't be at IML to see you this year..
But I definately have plans for next year! Believe it or not, I've never been to it or Chicago. What a way to 'devirginize' myself!

Marc: In a bad way. If I hadn't had my hands full in the kitchen I would have been skipping through that bit until it stopped.
Said by: Anna at May 23, 2006 10:17 PM
I thought it was funny. But hey... not everyone likes everything.

Fausto, I love you dearly but you have to stop making things up as you go along. The Trevor project is not named after a suicidal youth. It's named after an amazing short film about a queeny 13 year old boy. You can read about it here:
http://www.thetrevorproject.org/thefilm.aspx
I saw it first in some festival. Then there was a full length film that had tagged on Trevor as an opening short. Anyone out there remember what that was?
Anyway, you can buy the film on that site. I totally reccomend it. Fausto Fernos, the Pinnochio of Podcasting!
