FOF #313 - Climb Every Mountie - 05.19.06

Podcast
If today's supposed to be the happiest day of the year
then why do we feel so lousy?

According to the Ananova.com newsource, "experts" say today is supposed to be the happiest day of the year because it's the sunniest day of spring. Yeah. Right. Then why is it raining outsisde?

Today my good pal Matthew Simonette joins me to talk about bad theater, film and music. Will and Grace going off the air (we saw, we listened, we ho-hummed) and the sexy Canadian Mounties who are getting married!

Pictured on the right is the lovely couple- Jason Tree, 27, and David Connors, 28, of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, whom will tie the knot next month in their scarlet dress uniforms. HOT! Can't wait to see those pictures. Now see, this is good news we can use and use and use again.

Thanks to our lovely listener Terry Taylor from Nova Scotia, who turned us onto this real-life sexy gay couple from Canada who are getting married this week. We want to know where is the "adult" film with these themes? We looked high and low on Google and found nothing of the sort.

Come see a live recording of the Feast of Fools podcast at the Apple Store, Saturday May 27th from 7-8pm! Best of all it's FREE.

When Matthew is gushing laughter, do his eyes get all wild?

The sun is shining in San Diego!

Foghorn Leghorn's little nemesis was the Chicken Hawk.

Said by: rick in San Diego at May 19, 2006 12:58 PM

No, I'm talking about the son of the woman he was trying to raise.

FINALLY! I did a ton of research. His name was "Egghead Jr." he was the son of the widow that Foghorn Leghorn wanted to seduce. (For her money, not her looks.)

I think the people think I'm crazy because of listening to your podcast, I'm constantly laughing at least an hour a day at my shift and they give me funny looks. I try to be discreat, but that doesn't always work and today was extremely hard not to bust out laughing. Great show guys! Matthew is too adorable for words and has the cutest laugh.

Okay Fausto, I'm taking you to task for your comments about depressing songwriters. I used to be in a band and a lot of my songs were really depressing. People would often say "you're so happy all the time, why do you write such depressing songs?" and my reply was "how do you think I can stay happy?". And yes, I love to listen to depressing music too. When I'm feeling down the last thing I want to hear is fucking Puffy AmiYumi. I want to hear Cocteau Twins or The Cure. I would cringe if every single song was happy. Ugh. Music should run the full range of emotions. Even The Cure had songs that made you feel good. And I swear Cocteau Twins have a song about blowjobs. So even the most depressing musicians have fun and upbeat songs, but there's nothing wrong with doing depressing songs too.

In defense of Scott Free, that song "Noone's Ever Been In Love With Me, with lyrics like "noone's ever called me muffin" it's obviously totally tongue in cheek. It actually makes you feel good. Give it another listen.

I had to really laugh at your leather/IML comments. You are very right, most of us do have a great sense of humor. Do you really think I could run around on all fours and eat out of a dog dish and not reflect about my life once in a while and realize how totally absurd it is? LOL! We all make the same kind of jokes you all do, and I love it when you joke around too because I know that you get it, and your jokes are never meant with disrespect.

Excellent show as always, Fausto. Give Marc and the gang my love and you all have an excellent weekend.

On the vaccine for "coochie cancer"...

Cervical Cancer is made more likely if the lady in question has been infected with HPV (Human Pappilona Virus, IE Genital Warts). Since warts are basically benign little tumors grown by altering the DNA of the skin cells, there is an increased chance of the DNA becoming more fucked up, and turning the warts into much more serious non-benign tumors. Thus the vaccine is against HPV: the virus that increases the chance for cervical cancer.

My biologist boyfriend just read over my shoulder... he says that HPV has also been shown to increase chances of colon cancer in both sexes, and prostate cancer in men, so I imagine this is a vaccine that everyone can use and everyone should try to get the drug-companies to relax prices upon.

Oh, and one more thing. I haven't heard the song "Piss On Me", but considering my penchant for watersports, it doesn't sound like such a sad song to me. Tee hee.

Love you guys. ;)

Hey, love the comparison of Gen Hadden with the chicken nerd. And the suprise call from GWB..So Laura Bush is in support of the Gay Agena..interesting. And Fausto not every gay musician sing or write depressing songs.. You forget all those "Church Queens" One who come have in mind is the late Rev. James Cleveland and Bobby Jones. Actually Bobby Jones come on BET Sunday it so funny to see what outfit he's wears on the show he has definitely earned his crown..I wasn't always muscle i was a big girl..check you email..

In terms of brainwashing when we're asleep...I WAS asleep the first time I heard today's show. Then I realised I had to wind it back and listen again (which is where I realised I'd be brain washed to carry out the FOF's mission and steal from people's wallets)x

I'm going to put this here becasue I know no one is going to read it. Anyways... I'm sick of living. I'm gay, i'm 14, and i'm fat. Hmm... well, this isn't my blog, but... whatever, I'm tired of constantly trying to motivate myself to do the most mundane things like getting up, or putting on coffee. So i'm ending my run. It was short, it was pretty good. A bottle of prozac popped with a bottle of effexor popped with a bottle of chlorpromazine... going to sleep, hopfully I won't wake up.
Good night dear void

Cameron
We got your message on the site. I hope you were just kidding and not really trying to kill yourself. There are tons of great teen support website and organizations in major metropolitan areas.

Have you called the Trevor Project?
The Trevor Project - operates the nation's only round-the-clock, toll-free suicide prevention hotline for GLBTQQ youth. (1-866-4-U-Trevor)

http://www.thetrevorproject.org/

Here are some links too
http://www.outyouth.org/resources/links.html

I hope you are doing well and we hope you were just joking around. But I would call the hotline either way.

I was a chubby gay teen too once who contemplated suicide all the time.

Lots of love to you

First class note to Cameron:
Cameron i hope your either kidding or were just thinking and didn't do anything for real. At 14 Shit really hits the fan, I will so go with you that but all the hormone changes that effect you emotionally a lot more then you think they are will pass. I was depressed from 9-17 and then it mostly passed (even w/o drugs). I still have bad/good days, but thats normal. I know i sound like a broken record, but being
"gay,14,& fat" might not be your idea of perfection but doing what you were saying is not the way out of it. In fact I'm proud that your able to say you are gay at 14.

I just turned 20 so i remember what shit being a teen is like, and if you need personal help. just remember to ask for it hun. I wish you the best.

now for my 2 odd cents about the music commentary from this podcast --->a very amusing and infromative Podcast. so much to take in. I will agree bands tend to play sad/angry music alot but because musicans tend to make songs on strong feelings at the time and when to you feel constantly happy for a long time to make a happy song you like? not to often, at least for me...But bands also makes songs just for fun like a band I saw made a song about Jodi...they don't know a jodi but justed wanted a song to have the chorus to invole pornstar in it. so yeah
