FOF #310 - Treason is the Reason for the Season - 05.16.06

Podcast
[NOTE: We've reposted this show due to tech problems.] The reason why the phone companies
are cooperating with the Republicans in power to sell you out is because they want them to look the other way when they start exorting big and small websites for access to content.

If AT&T had a dispute with any Unions, it can simply block users from getting access to any website or blogs that discuss this matter in an unfavorable light. They could even block sites like Moveon.org to get favors from the current administration. Like Net Neutrality.

If you think this is paranoid or Orwellian, think again. The fact is that AT&T, Verizon, and BellSouth turned over all YOUR phone records without your consent or notification just because Bush asked for them. Blocking a site or two wouldn't be out of the question as well. Why aren't more podcasters and bloggers talking about this?

On a happier note, Victoria Lamarr suprises us all with a phone call from her can, talking about her woes in trying to get a sex change in Mexico. Lots of news about monkeys and alcohol (they like to drink just like us!) and if you live in Florida, you better watch out for those gators!

Pictured on the right is a monkey having a delicious wine cooler after a long hard day of being used as a lab animal for a major cosmetics company.

All the flavor, none of the calories, now with 20% more fresh fruit flavah, the Feast of Fools!

Sorry about posting yesterday's show twice. It's been fixed. Thanks for your patience and vigilence! Due to the problem I had to delete the comments.

Am I on crack? I heard a show yesterday. It was the DJ, Fausto and Marc gigglefest. I loved it. Today is Tuesday, isn't it? I'm so confused. :(

Anyway, to comment on this show, I've never met anyone who's escaped from Exodus who has gotten into leather, however, I do know several ex-mormons who are into it. What is it about breaking free of the mormon religion that throws people into the bdsm lifestyle? LOL!

Marc, going into Exodus to try and save people from Christianity is a realy bad idea. There was a journalist here in LA who went in for a story and they really fucked him up. They use the same mind control techniques as the religious cults (didn't you ever see Blinded By The Light With Jimmy and Kristy McNikol back in the 70's???) Even happy well adjusted people can get sucked in and begin to question their own morals and ideas when bombarded with the right kind of positive and negative reinforcement. It's really scary.

Oh, and I have never taken my mom to a leather bar, I don't think she could handle it. But Buzz has. His mom came out with us one night to one of the local leather contests and had a blast. I thought of that when I heard that part of the show, heh heh.

Okay, back to porn. It's a busy day here.

Love,

Pup Don;

Are you the sweet thing that answers the phone at All Worlds? They are really busy thisweek too. And now they have all my spare money.

Was today's show only supposed to be 27mins? It cut Fausto off mid-flow. Someone's out to get the FOF! It must be true!

Said by: Gary C at May 16, 2006 01:07 PM

So will this net neutrality affect things like cable and broadband that aren't through phone companies?

This podcast sure gives you a lot to think about.

Good to hear from V-Marr again, she has been missed! Can't wait for her to be back full time.

Got my t-shirt (and other goodies)yesterday, it's very comfy and anyone out there that hasn't ordered one really should, I know I'll be wearing it every weekend for a long time to come (since I can't wear t-shirts at all to work). Thanks guys! Another day keeping me sane for the 8hrs+ that I have at work everyday. Keep it up a day without FOF just feels very incomplete indeed.

great show, and keep it up!

Hi EricM. While I am a sweet thing, I'm not the guy at All Worlds. I work for Randy Blue and deal mostly with people in the business. But if you ever do want to chat you can always click my name under this message and get on my MySpace. ;)

Oh,I forgot, I got my FOF pins and bumper sticker the other day, so I'm stylin' with my FOF pins all over my new "man purse" bag. I have to wait until I wash the car before I put the sticker on it. People don't write "Wash me" on it they write "For God's sake, get a mop!!!"

re: Kristen's question

net neutrality is ostensibly about companies that own 'backbone' wanting scaled payments for usage... right?

Changes to net neutrality will affect cable users as well because the traffic you generate uses backbone just like people who connect with aDSL, dialup, or whatever.

Just like we charge certain models of cars more toll than others, right? Or how rich people pay more for their food at the supermarket than others, right?
(maybe analogies dont work for this, we DO charge more for commercial trucks, right... & rich people buy their organics right?)
:)

screw this tech stuff. what i want to know is where did ryan slasinski go?

sigh

And who says you have to pay to get quality :)

Seriously though guys, thanks for delivering the best comedy for the queer nation. Even when the NSA tries to keep your content off the air by screwing up your new shows. At least I got to hear the sweet sounds of DJ again, what a sweetie.

Later

thanks Miloh that answered my question. It's just wrong I don't want the government screwing with my internet time. Internet time is sacred! Lets just hope it won't pass and vote dem this november so maybe our rights won't be AS trampled on as they are right now.

another great PC and I'm so happy to hear from V-Marr and her...interesting Mother. I'll be extra careful when in Orlando and I'll miss Friday's podcast for a few days because of that. I'll be downtown most of the time, but I'll watch out anyways. I can't wait for tomarrows PC and I hope no one trys to fuck with your podcast, as some one somewhere is. So wish ya a good nught and keep kcking ass.

The biggest obstacle we have is time and money folks. Any problems happened last night because I forgot to change the date for the show file, and went to bed all sleepy. Nobody checked my work (except Rochelle, thank you sweetie!) So I fixed it that morning, but the damage was done. Remember, we're a tech dept of one.

Podcasting aint easy, that's for sure.

Said by: Fausto at May 17, 2006 01:19 AM

Fausto,

Not all Christian churches are "money taking scams". Some churches do genuinely love, honor, and cherish GLBT people, and have opened their doors to GLBT people for years. Nobody is ever asked to change anything about their character or behavior, unless they are engaging in self-abusive behavior or turning that behavior on others. I am a good testimony to what such a church can provide, because when I came to Unity, I was in a nearly psychotic cycle of pushing away people and extremely verbally abusive to others. Through the gentle spirituality that Unity taught, I found a place where I could be myself and grow into my full potential and not worry about being judged or condemned along the way.

I really do wish you would not tar all Christian churches with the same brush. By doing so, you are engaging in the same stereotyping that the right-wing fundamentalist churches are doing to us. In the end, only you can decide if you are being unfair and open your mind to other possibilities.

Otherwise, great show, as always!

Said by: David at May 17, 2006 07:58 AM

great show guys, as ever :)

however, you got the poor guy who was wrongly interviewed on the BBC wrong...he was actually there for an Interview...and thought that he was being filmed as part of the interviewing process! I wonder if he got the job... :)

Hey Fausto & Mark!
Thanks for the advice... (some great comments as well, thanks you guys!) I'm definitely going to use it next time I talk to my mother.
Awesome show as usual!

re: Your comment that Podcasting ain't easy... I tried it for a while and now I know what you are talking about. All that mixing, editing, saving, hoping your computer doesn't crash, re-doing it all 'cause it sounds like shit, etc. etc. ETC. is enough to make someone crazy. The fact that you do it EVERY SINGLE DAY of the work week just keeps me in awe. I did mine ONCE a week and found it exhausting.

So honey... just know that I'll never complain if a show is posted twice or something's wonky with the show. I know it's hard. And you do your best, and you don't get much for it.

Except, of course, for the love and admiration of all your fans. Of which I am one. :)

Now get back to work, bitches. ;-) xoxo

Hey guys...Great show. I just caught up listening to a bit of last week. I believe that Scott Freeman made a comment about his disappointment/frustration over the fact that gay people don't listen to gay music and that they should support gay musicians. I was frustrated to hear a gay musician make such a comment. Maybe if gay musician = good music, it would be easier to listen to it. Just a thought. Is he suggesting that gays be dictated as to whom they choose to listen? Also, Matt Simonette has the funniest laugh. It made the show almost unbearibly funny.
