FOF #274 - What a Crappy Week - 03.24.06

People, we have not had a good week here on the Feast of Fools! Today Miss Ronnie comes over to share the bad news of general gloom and doom in the world today and in our own lives.
The war is still going on, wasting millions of dollars and lives, the economy is shit, Miss Ronnie got a C+ on her exam, Elvis is dead, and Marc's not feeling that good himself.
We were at the gym doing squats, trying to get buffed for our big NYC Meet N' Greet on April 13th (which we will be there, do or DIE) when Marc seemed to have a panic attack, his heart beating quickly and furriously. (He's okay now, thank you.)
Listen today as Marc, Ronnie and Fausto chat about Beards making a fashion comeback, hot guys on our Frappr map, celebrities that will not die, and Texas cops arresting people in BARS for being drunk.
To make everyone feel better picture to the right is Scott Madsen the original Soloflex Poster boy who's ad campaign launched a whole new way of looking at the male body in advertising. He was the subject of many a gay teen fantasies (he certainly was mine.)
We don't make this stuff up... well at least most of it.
The Feast of Fools is coming to NYC! Thursday April 13th 7pm at the Starlight Lounge in the Village, NYC. Chip any amount of money you have in your coin jar by clicking here. Help bring Ms. V-Marr, Ronnie, Amanda, Marc and your flaming blue pal Fausto to the Big Apple to meet you face to face. We've raised $672 dollars so far! If you're planning on flying up there, get your tickets through Orbitz and support our show!

tanning beds are tuned to emit as much UVA radiation as possible: UVA is longer-wavelength UltraViolet light that penetrates the skin and causes melanin to be generated (hence, tanning). UVB is shorter-wavelength, higher-energy ultraviolet that causes burning. The difference is that the sun emits UVA and UVB... so the result of overtanning is a nasty sunburn... but tanning beds emit much more UVA and much less UVB.
Thus, when you use a tanning bed you are more likely to tan than burn, but you're still causing your body to ramp up its melanin production, and you are still soaking yourself in ultra-violet radiation (note: melanoma cancer comes from when those melanin-producing cells go apeshit).
Like most things... tanning is best in moderation. While there is skin-cancer risk for using tanning beds.... it is lower than the risk of repeatedly burning yourself with natural sunlight.
Just make sure to keep a check on any "nasty" moles (moles that weren't there before or seemed to start moving outside their borders) and have a dermatologist check you out occasionally.
Loves to you all, and ya'll sound fabulous.

Great show again, guys and Miss Ronnie! Every episode with Miss Ronnie is guaranteed to be great, and this one was no exception. As far as the bad week for Miss Ronnie, just remember that each day can and will get better if you make it so. Stay strong, Miss Ronnie!

Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention that I also enjoyed the Soloflex ads when I was a teenager. Between that and my love of GQ, its a wonder I ever doubted I was gay...

nice show. :-)
It's wonderful to hear how much these parents care about their gay son. I admire their willingness to learn more about his lifestyle. Their efforts to make the world a more educated, tolerant, accepting place through PFLAG are really wonderful. I'm sure the support they give other parents of glt-kids is very very valuable. Keep on going!
Listening to your show, I only felt kind of sorry for their other son. :-o
btw: Marc: you have an amazing voice ;-)

Hey guys!!!!
As usual, another fantastic episode of the Feast of Fools. I laughed all the way to work this morning on the train. I have to say that with everything bad that happens to all of us in life, there will be good as well. Ms. Ronnie, keep your head up and let positive thoughts wash over you all day, every day. Fausto and Marc, I can't wait to see you and the rest of the gang at the Meet & Greet in New York on April 13th! Maybe I'll carry you around the room on my back Fausto, lol. You'll have a human chariot. Ms. Ronnie, use the casuela on me baby, I can handle it!
BIG HUG to all of you.

Great Job... glad to hear you guys are still working out...
Let me know if you need me to ramp up that workout...
Be sure to eat before you workout, especially if you are doing legs... they are a large muscle and draw a lot of blood out of the body. If you havent had anything to eat, or are just using caffine it can cause an imbalance in the body that can lead to a feeling similar to that of a panic attack, so be careful...
Love you guys... and cant wait to see you finally in April!!

Sorry to hear, that you're havin' a terrible week. If it makes you guys feel any better, I had a horrible week as well. Thank Buddha for Feast of Fools podcast to bring a little laughter (just a little, unfortunately -- the week was that bad) to my otherwise miserable existence this week. :-(
You guys are my life saver. L.

OUCH! Everything went ot Hell in a hand basket this week, eh? That totally bites! Marc, please get checked out by your doctor, just to make sure everything is A-OK! Miss Ronnie, keep your chin up. Take it, as you said, one day at a time, cause if Bonnie Franklin could do it, so can you! heh! ;)
I wish I could be in NYC when you have the meet & great but alas, I’m stuck in Florida… which is fine by me. Besides, it’s way too damned cold there for me!
Great show, as usual! FOF never disappoints!
Keep up the GREAT P-casting, guys!

To be honest Dave, neither of us currently has health care (we're trying to find some good options) but out finances are razor thin.

Man.. did EVERYONE have a shitty week this week? I was so ready for the weekend you don't even KNOW...
I laughed OUT LOUD at the shout out... but I must say I am not really that bruised anymore. Hell, I got over it long ago. Although I still haven't met David Cerda... not quite sure what to say to him when/if I do... Hmmm. I'll have to think about that. :)
After all, I'm still here, I still love you guys, and I ain't going anywhere anytime soon.
And Marc... take care of yourself babe... take it easy this weekend and rest. Don't scare us like that again. :)

Thanks for a great show guys!
Hang in there Miss Ronnie.. I feel your pain on the school pressure. I worked full time AND went to school full time for two years straight, no breaks. I was gone from 6am to 10:30pm M-F! You can do it.. It's tough, but you'll get into a routine and make it happen. It'll all be worth it in the end.
