FOF #251 - French Fashionistas - 02.21.06

Sharing a sweet kiss with his boyfriend Matt Horton (pictured here on the right) is none other than our fan and friend Benjamin Paciello a true french fasionista who descends from a very distinguished line of female fashion icons.
Just who is Benji related to? Well his aunt was none other than hollywood fashion model Suzy Parker, who was once said to be the highest-paid model in the world, earning more than $60,000 a year in the 1950s; she later embarked on a brief career as an actress in Hollywood. (he kind of looks like her too.) She was cut from the same cloth as our beloved Joan Crawford, as it seems they both came from San Antonio and became legendary women in fashion and film.
[Note: Although both women came from deep within the heart of Texas, Joan Crawford started her film career in the 1920's working as a silent film star in California. By the time Suzy Parker began her career, Joan had already won the Oscar in 1945 for Mildred Pierce. Thanks to true blue listener Michael White for the correction!]
You can see some fabulous images of her in Richard Avedon's fabulous book "Woman in the Mirror" by clicking here. Even the Beatles wrote a song about her!
His boyfriend Matt joins us with our lovable lesbian Cat Jefcoat to talk about the gay zoo pengins, anorexic lesbians, why Paris Hilton is NOT a whore, Leslie Hall, and lots of other lovely animal news.
Plus a special surprise phone call from Victoria Lamarr, who's announcing her new cleaning service. Yes, for the small price of $75 an hour you can hire Miss Vicki to come to your house and clean. And from what I hear, she DOES do windows. If you're interested, email her at victorialamarr [at symbol goes here] gmail [period] com.

Faustina!!! HOW could you mention Suzy Parker and Joan in the same breath and not say anything about the film they both appear in. Sounds like spmebody needs to do his own homework, AGAIN.'The Best of Everything'???? Suzy is wonderful in this as an obsessed actress long before Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction. Good thing you have me to let you know when you've messed up.

You guys are awesome. Great show as always. Cat is just delightful as all get out, and Ben and Matt are just too cute.
I believe the term you were looking for is Alimony. Here is the definition from dictionary.com:
Law. An allowance for support made under court order to a divorced person by the former spouse, usually the chief provider during the marriage. Alimony may also be granted without a divorce, as between legally separated persons.
This is quite different than patrimony, which is...
1. An inheritance from a father or other ancestor.
2. An inheritance or legacy; heritage.
Or... An endowment or estate belonging to an institution, especially a church.
This has been your "increase your word usage" program for the day. Tomorrow's word will be Prostrate (not to be confused with prostate).
Thanks guys. Have a groovy day. :)

If only Victoria Lamarr's mother had her own podcast where she did nothing but chew peanuts with her dentures out...how dreamy would that be?

Hey FoF guys! I was listening the letter from the guy in Korea and contrary to what people thought, Korea is very anti-gay.
Firstly, they've all but adopted fanatic Catholicism.. and we know how gay-friendly that is.
Secondly, a friend went there for four months and the one time he made out with some Aussie traveler outside their hostel he was chased and beat up.
And thirdly, here's a story that someone sent to me: http://alyinkorea.blogspot.com/2005/12/sickness.html
Thank goodness for the American bases over there, eh?! :)
