FOF #239 - A Sunny Day - 02.03.06

Out of the many hilarious characters that local comedian Richard Knight, Jr. developed, probably the most memorable has been that of "Dick O'Day." Donning a LOUD yellow suit and double eyeglasses (having two glasses helps him to see better he says) Dick O'Day appeared on the 90's public television program Wild Chicago. The program touched on the beginning wave of reality television which had Dick running around town talking to the eccentric, loud, and of course wild.
That show was the Blondie to our Madonna.
Although the subject matter was pretty tame, it was the humanity and eccentricity that Richard Knight Jr. brought to his segments that made them a perennial favorite with viewers and critics alike. Two of his segments for WIld Chicago won Emmy awards for local television programming.
Richard also is well known for being the ringmaster for the Brazillian Pop band Samba Bamba which had one of our former guests Jen Zias as a regular singer.

What a great pod cast. I just ordered the book & can't wait till it comes in. I'm sure it's going to be a good read. And I hope that the movie end's up happening.

Where's the drink recipe? I mean, I could write it down, but I'm kind of lazy and with all the confusion that happened during the show I'm not entirely sure what the recipe is. . .

Great show! I used to watch Wild Chicago when I lived in Oak Park and I remember Dick O'Day.
And let him know I am still waiting for that CD. :-) Seriously, there's no rush, but I have a friend at work I want to share it with. She studies and teaches latin dance and I thought she would get a kick out of it.

What a great show! I love the Newlywed Game! I think you guys should do a podcast version of the Dating Game. Get three listeners on the line as the bachelors and have your in-house guest ask them questions. Then the winners get an all expense paid trip to one of your meet-n-greets for a 'date.'
I had you right up until "all expense paid" didn't I?
LOL
