FOF #226 - Puertorican Rainforest Soundscape - 01.17.06

Podcast
One of the most beautiful sounds that comes out of Puerto Rico
besides the music itself, is the ambient gorgeous sounds of the tropical rainforest. Full of life, the ears explode in a majestic lush of sound that can only come from a dense canopy of thousands of lifeforms calling out to each other.

Okay, I'm waxing a bit too much poetic, but I AM from Puerto Rico. This music and these sounds and the Yunque itself (the name for the mountain/preserve) are a big part of my psyche, my personality and my idenity. So indulge me!

Listen as Marc and Fausto take you on an audio tour of El Yunque Caribbean National Forest and some lovely Puerto Rican music, old and new.

Check out these pics from our adventure in the rainforest.

Thank you for such a wonderful episode! I enjoyed listening to it on my way to work.

I visited beautiful Costa Rica several years ago and was able to walk through one or two of their lush cloud forests. So this episode made feel nostalgic for that place, but it also made me want to visit Puerto Rico. I live on the west coast, so I don't know how likely that is in the near future, so I really appreciate the audio travelogue and the pictures on the web site so I can experience it vicariously. Gay cyber-tourists, how's that for a niche market?

Anyway, what a great way to start the morning! Keep up the good work!

Fausto! I absolutely loved this show, its was so different from all the other ones. You guys have an amazing range of shows, from the high-energy Amanda Steinstein (which I love) to the more reflective personal ones like this one (which I wish happened more often.)

Hearing the beautiful sounds of the tropical rainforest in Puerto Rico makes me feel very peaceful and relaxed. Thank you so much for making these audio gems.

This is turning out to be a nice week of chilled podcasts. They are getting me all happy and mellowed before work, which is good because I hate it and everyone there.

I think this episode is a good example of what makes the FoF so compelling as well. Even while chatting with friends or family or while engaging in some real life activity Fausto and Mark never forget the audience and almost make you feel like you are there with them and just can't speak.

I loved the forest noises. It took me back to my time living in Vermont. There are no real forests (rain or otherwise) in England anymore and that insect ambience is something magical.

Lately I haven't been taking the train to work for various reasons, but today I loaded up this episode and braved the miserable, cold and damp weather and felt literally transported to Puerto Rico in the heart of the rainforest.

Thank you for a wonderful journey into your life and into the beauty of that area. Even though I couldn't see it while I was hearing it, I felt like I was standing right next to you and taking in the sights, sounds, and smells of nature. (Viewing the pictures before I left helped, too!)

I agree with what Craig said. Your ability to present such different shows is what makes your podcast superior to most others. Each show is another little peek into the world of Fausto and Marc, but is interesting for all who listen. It's like your tagline says when you bring up the website... you are "the gay podcast for everyone." I couldn't agree more!

One of your best! Vividly transporting us to Puerto Rico as only you two can! I visited there several years ago with a family that never wanted to leave the beach. I missed out on the splendid grandeur that is so obviously beyond the beach.

Thank you for the trip!
