Our New Year's Resolutions

Happy New Year Everyone! From all of us here at the Feast of Fools we want to wish you lots of love and friendship in 2006, and hope you can keep your resoultions as we hope to keep these:

FEAST OF FOOLS NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS FOR 2006:

• Stop writing letters to hot men in prison.

• Get chiseled abs and get on the cover of a gay magazine for doing nothing more than chiseled abs.

• Stop watching re-runs of "Sister Sister" on the WB. Damnit! When oh when will the world learn that Tia and Tamera Mowry are the thinking man's Olsen Twins?

• Start a blog to raise awareness of bloggers depression.

• Remember that forgiveness is easier to ask for than permission.

• I'm going to finally wash my stinky dildoes.

• Stop drinking those stupid "Red Headed Slut" shots.

• Start selling baby blue plastic bracelets to raise awareness of Munchausen by Proxy Syndrome. Oh, by the way, you look a little under the weather... want to buy a bracelet?

• Spend more time at the gym working out my eyes.

• Figure out a way to get Jake Gyllenhaall into a 3-way with us.

• Stop yelling to the AOL Telephone Customer Service: "Can I please speak to someone who is NOT in Pakistan?" Since when did the A in AOL stand for Ass-gass-nistan? This is America Online, learn to speak english godddamit! Or Navajo.

• Kiss more ass, and pretend to read other people's blogs.

• Kiss less ass, and tell people their blogs focus too much on the lint inside their bellybutton.

• Make a movie about two straight actors that pretend to be gay in order to win an oscar.

• Keep an eye out for shivs, shanks and other homemade knives.

• Protect myself from alien waves by wrapping my head in leftover foil.

• Learn how to make shivs out of Jello.

• Stop pretending there is nothing wrong with Tori Amos' face or her fans.

• Remind people to stop re-gifting the "Gift."

• Get plastic surgery to look like Jocelyn Widlenstein, or buy a new iPod.

• Connect my roomba to my iPod so I can listen to a podcast that doesn't suck.

• Stop making New Years Resolutions next year.

FOF #213 - That's Why the Lady is a Tramp - 12.20.05

Podcast
Subversive and perversive,
THE Lady Bunny joins us today to talk about her debut DVD "X-Rated: For X-tra Retarded" a video collection of her greatest hits from her nightclub comedy act.

Originally born in Chattanooga Tennessee, Lady Buny first moved to Atlanta Georgia to go to Georgia State University and then in the 1980's moved to New York City to become part of a vibrant community of drag performers.

Lady Bunny's probably best known for organizing and founding the New York City Outdoor Drag Festival Wigstock, which in 1995 became the subject of a documentary "Wigstock The Movie" directed by Barry Shills.

In addition to emceeing the annual Wigstock event for over 20 years she's a well known DJ, promoter, and comedian.

Her blog on her web site, ladybunny.net, is a sharp, politically aware and at times loopy take on current affairs and cultural issues and recently featured a photo of herself next to Jeff Stryker's penis, which claims to be one of the largest penises in the world. And from the looks of it, I dont doubt it!

Llisten to Lady Bunny talk about Pamela Anderson and the Comedy Central Roast, the politics of drag and her former roommate RuPaul, and her mother Lady Becky, who threatens to run onto the stage and steal the show with her tambourine. Wouldn't that be a sight!

Visit Lady Bunny's website and buy "X-Rated: For X-tra Retarded"

Also a lovely holiday present, the Feast of Fools 2006 Calendar.

FOF #212 - Christmas Makes Me Bitter - 12.19.05

Podcast
Local playwright
and legendary (well at least in our circle) Joan Crawford impersonator David Cerda joins us today to talk about his masterpiece musical "Rudolph, the Red Hosed Reindeer."

No, he's not talking about Republican NYC Mayor Rudy Guliani. David's theater company Hell in a Handbag Productions popular show is based on the classic Rankin/Bass animated TV special starring Burl Ives from the 70's.

David said he chose to make a musical based on the memorable TV classic because of the opportunity it presented to comment on gay culture and the alienation everyone can feel from inside their own community.

Listen as Marc and Fausto talk with David about his musicals, Brokeback Mountain, David's transsexual identity, and what Mancow said to Steve Kimbrough when they went on his radio show.

Visit David's website and buy the fabulous Rudolph the Red Hosed Reindeer CD.

Also, David wants you all to know he's all man, in case you were wondering.

Pictured on the right is David Cerda from our 2006 calendar with fabulous photos by Jason Smith! Get it here.

FOF #211 - Does This Wheelchair Make Me Look Fat? - 12.15.05

Podcast
Teri Garr considered naming her autobiography
"Does This Wheelchair Make Me Look Fat?"

Instead she decided on “Speedbumps: Flooring it through Hollywood.” The result is a hilarious and touching book that begins with growing up in a vaudevillian family, dancing in Elvis Presley's movies, winning an Oscar for her hilarious role in the film Tootsie, and then coming to terms and living with Multiple Sclerosis.

Considered by many to be one of the best comedic actresses in recent history, Teri Garr speaks candidly with hosts Fausto Fernós and Marc Felion about her work in such films as Tootsie and Young Frankenstein.

Listen as Teri Garr reveals the real reason why she has such great on-air chemistry with David Letterman, how she came up with the memorable line in Tootsie “I am responsible for my own orgasms” and how she got her television beginnings in Star Trek.

Her new autobiography "Speedbumps: Flooring it Through Hollywood" (which we highly recommend reading) is available right now on Amazon.com by clicking here.

Podcast
Nobody can seem to figure out why Mike Hipp
sent Miss Ronnie an umbrella for Christmas. Join us as we open presents sent to us mostly from Mike Hipp, the only journalist who dedicates his work to covering gay themed podcasts.

On this show, Amanda Steinstein and Miss Ronnie team up their estrogen powers and almost take over the show as the discussion gets heated up on the death penalty, abortion, gun control, death and taxes. Plus a special suprise phone call from our European correspondent George Grant!

Pictured on the right is the loveable chilean-born two-headed turtle managed to gross out Miss Ronnie and spark outrage with Amanda Steinstein. I think the turtle is kind of cute.

FOF #207 - Do They Fear What We Fear? - 12.12.05

Podcast
Jim Bennett and hot lesbian comedian Mandy Price
join us today to talk about the queer comedy group they're in, GayCo and their brand new holiday show "Do You Fear What I Fear."

There's a gay theater building here in Chicago where it seems just about every other show has hot men naked, prancing around. Not that we mind, mind you. Marc and I just HAD to ask what's the deal with their next door neighbors show: Naked Boys Singing (or what we call it, Naked Men Shivering, since they never seem to have the heat on in that place.)

On the right we see their publicity photo with a hot guy holding a blue ball. Jim and Mandy are on the left.

Listen as Jim and Mandy delight us with a fancy present, plus letters from our sexy gay British listeners, and lots of talk about the new words the Oxford English Dictionary added to their dictory this year. The word on top of the list? Podcasting, of course.

You can send our medal to:
5315 N. Clark Street, #242

FOF #206 - All That Jazz - 12.09.05

What's not ot love about Jazz?
Jazz music is a true American musical art form that's main focus is on unpredictablity and a free explosion of the musician's sentiment. It's very sexual.

On today's show we talk to Marc's bar buddy Russell Alan Rowe of the Russell Alan Rowe Trio who this Saturday and Sunday will be celebrating his CD release party at Pops for Champagne in Chicago. Listen as we talk with Russell about Martin Denny, sexy furniture, naughty German Christian calendars, and exotica.

Cocktail: Lesbian Folk Musician

Lesbian Folk Musician

For one reason or another, most of our lesbian friends just LOVE Chai tea. Is it the indian spices, the rich milky drink or the fact it comes from the exotic east that appeals to lesbians so much? Here is a drink recipie we concoted that transforms your everyday chai latte into a delicious cocktail we call the Lesbian Folk musician, in honor of our good friend Andy Moore.

2 cups water
8 cardamom pods
3 cloves
1 stick of cinnamon, broken up
2 bags of black tea (Irish Breakfast is good)

Boil spices and water for 5-10 min, add the tea and brew for 5 min. to brew a strong. Chil.

Add a cup of this mixture into a shaker with ice:
1/8 cup of half & half
1 oz. Baileys
1 1/2 - 2 oz. dark rum (Bacardi Anjeo is good)
1 oz. vodka (optional)

If you want to get your favorite lesbian folk singer nice and roasted, make sure to add lots of rum or supplement the drink with vodka. Marc considers supplementing drinks with vodka a "poor man's rohypnol" which means that you don't taste the vodka, but it gets you loose as a lesbian goose.

Shake, shake, shake- then serve in old fashioned glasses to reduce spillage. Dust a little cinnamon powder on top for garnish. Drink and enjoy!

Site of the Day: Vintage Gay Paperbacks

The 1950's and 60's, in the age before the internet (hell even television wasnt as popular or available) people everywhere bought books.

These cheap dime-store paperbacks were the "porn" of their day. Reading a hot sexy juicy story was one of the way gay men (and everyone else for that matter) could find gay content of any kind. The Hollywood Hayes code prevented explicit gay stories to be shown in films, and if they were (like the film "The Children's Hour") the characters stories had to end in despair and doom.

Take a trip back in time and check out these lovely paperback covers of an era where just the very notion of two men kissing was a spicy, seedy, and scandalous turn-on.

But WHAT is up with the GOP fav-icon on the browser? Will somebody please explain that to me?

FOF #203 - The Hermaphroditic Goat - 12.06.05

Podcast
The president of the Feast of Fools fanclub Alan Gentry
had a pet goat who happened to be a hermaphrodite when he was a kid. We're not kidding you. For real.

For those of you not saavy in gender talk like we urban gays are, a Hermaphrodite is a being who is BOTH male and female. Has a dick and a pussy. So I guess this was the goat that gave milk and semen?

Listen to our yammering about Alan Gentry's best friend Keith's Stiles beauty and totally ignore Alan's fascinating Goat INTER-sex story.

But on another hand WHAT did happen overnight after yesteday's show? We had such a lovely time we invited the fellas to spend the night. Fausto, Marc and Keith shacked up in one room, and V-Marr and Alan hooked up in another. It was a very playboy mansion moment.

What DID we do? We don't kiss and tell. That's for us to know and you to use your imagination and find out. Check out the new pics I posted on flickr today.

FOFA #109 - Hookin' in the Hospital - 12.01.05

Podcast
In many ways the Victoria Lamarr Show video podcast
owes a lot to the overwhelming generosity of donations that came in from fans when our sweet Victoria Lamarr had been in the hospital recovering from AIDS complications (she had Spinal Menengitis.)

Listen to our tragically beautiful V-Mar as she talks about her good nurses, evil nurses, her sexy doctor's sexual ambiguity, and why she is so resilient through all her illnesses.

Because of the donations we received, we were able to buy V-Marr a refurbished iMac G5 and she's been able to tape her wacky shows at home. Stay tuned cause we have some special movies coming your way!
