FOF #204 - One Night Stands - 12.07.05

Eric Himan grew up in a military home, traveling all over the world as his father got stationed. As an adult, Eric travels the road 85% of the year as a grassroots folk-rock musician, initially with his manager Cassandra and now with lesbian musician Andy Moore.
We met Eric Himan years ago when he was just getting started on what is becoming a very prolific music career. On today's show we talk about one night stands, being a gay musician, why Eric doesnt sleep around, why Andy Moore needs a personal stylist, and other delicious topics about queer folk-rock music.
Also in order to loosen up our guests we made a very special cocktail, called the "Lesbian Folk Musician" it's basically a chai iced tea with rum and cream. Check out the extended entry for the recipie so you can make one and share in our fun.

Martinicast:
Lesbian Folk Musician
2 cups water
8 cardamom pods
3 cloves
1 stick of cinnamon, broken up
2 bags of black tea (Irish Breakfast is good)
Boil spices and water for 5-10 min, add the tea and brew for 5 min. to brew a strong. Chil.
Add a cup of this mixture into a shaker with ice:
1/8 cup of half & half
1 oz. Baileys
1 1/2 - 2 oz. dark rum (Bacardi Anjeo is good)
1 oz. vodka (optional)
If you want to get your favorite lesbian folk singer nice and roasted, make sure to add lots of rum or supplement the drink with vodka. Marc considers supplementing drinks with vodka a "poor man's rohypnol" which means that you don't taste the vodka, but it gets you loose as a lesbian goose.
Shake, shake, shake- then serve in old fashioned glasses to reduce spillage. Dust a little cinnamon powder on top for garnish. Drink and enjoy!

I'm such a big fan of Eric Himan, thank you guys so much for doing a show on him. I also love Andy Moore too. Thanks!

Brilliant! Only you two could pull off such a top-notch interview with these two important gay icons. I think I could go lesbian for Andy too. She's just too cute!
P.S. I'll be making Folk-Singing Lesbians for my fabulous lesbian cousin and her wife over our family Christmas gathering in Texas this weekend. What a tasty and festive holiday sipper!
Love; Ciao!

The Gay Trucker here,
I am a true fan of Eric's, and seen your feed in my qPodder so I clicked it. I listen to your show sometimes, was really sad to hear that it is hard to work with others your other show with other gays... hint! That said you boys did a great interview, and it was nice to hear Eric talk. After your interview I went to iTunes (i hate itunes-m4p's yck) but since I know every song of Erics off by heart, it was nice to hear some live.
You both are very good interviewERS and I wish you the best in future, and of course I am downing your next one.
kiss

Dave
Glad you are a big fan of Eric Himan. He has a great voice and a determined personality. He deserves all the praise and glory he can get. Did you check out the pics we took on the site? That deserves a lil' praise and glory too.
Andy has a great voice and a personality too. This is one lesbian to keep your eye on. She will do great things.
As far as the other show, well, work is work and as you can see, we have plenty on our hands right now. We don't miss the show and are glad to be focusing on the Feast of Fools. Our stable is full of fun, intelligent, creative people that work with us on a regular basis. We are much better off concentrating on making the Feast of Fools Podcast the best we can. We do five shows a week and are committed to bringing you the best we have to offer.
Here's some things to look forward to: an interview with Teri Garr; The Feast of Fools Podcast presents Victoria Lamarr as Clara in "The Seven Minute Nutcracker"; an interview with Jeff Mann, author of "Loving Mountains, Loving Men" about gay life in Appalachia.
So Trucker Man, if you are ever in Chitown I want you to pull your big rig up to my door and blow that horn. I'm serious
Said by: Marc at December 8, 2005 03:55 PM
Blow that horn, but don't come empty handed.

If you like Eric Himan's music, you will love this interview. Even if you aren't familiar with his work, it is pretty damn funny anyway. It even has a couple of his songs featured. Check it out!
