FOF #199 - Return of the Queen of Camp, part 2 - 11.18.05

Charles Busch returns for part two of his interview with Fausto Fernós and David Cerda.
Did you know they only spent $35 to put on "Vampire Lesbians of Sodom?" Nowdays Chalres works with a much bigger budget.
He recently won an acting award from the Sundance Film Fesitival for his starring role in "Die Mommie Die" a tribute and send-up of the female actors from the melodramatic films of Hollywood's Golden Era.
Check out our "After the Show" inside the extended entry to hear what David and I talked about after this interivew.
Stay tuned for our special SUPER-SIZED 200 show on Monday!

Hi Fausto,
Great interview! Both parts were very enjoyable.
I'm writing a play where the two main characters say nothing. They just sit on the stage and make out. Of course I'd be one of the leads.... I'm writing the other part just for you!
What's the plot you ask? Do I care? Not a bit!!
There is a third character who dances around in the background naked. I think Marc would be good in that role.
Aaaaah... I just love the theater!

Geee thanks?
The only thing I have to tell you Joel, is that I get ugly Mexican stunt doubles to do all the "blue" scenes (naked, sex.etc...)
Why doesnt someone write in a scene where I have to eat lots of delicious chocolate silk pie?
Said by: Fausto at November 18, 2005 12:31 PM
Probably because it is just chock full of high fructose corn syrup and we all know your aversion to that!
As for the ugly Mexican thing.... fine! I'll write the part for Marc!

Pie? Naked? Stage? Sounds like that food fetish word you used during the John Waters interview (what was it?). I'm a playwright too, Joel. A suggestion for your script: I really do think you should have Daphne Dumond make an appearance (though probably not naked).... About #199: Fausto - LOVED IT! Charles Busch! What a win for the show! All you need to do now is get Terrence M. on! Would love to hear more about his recent Vermont nuptials, new projects, etc.. Patricia? Mom? Can you help make this happen???
Love; Ciao!

It's funny. All this time on tv Charles Busch's movies have been on and I hadn't seen them yet until now. Die mommie Die is currently showing so I look forward to seeing the described kissing scene with Jason Priestly.

Thanks so much for the interviews with Charles Busch. I just adore his work , and listening to him speak is such a pleasure. I've followed his work, much like I do of you guys, and it was very affirming to hear you all say things that I identify with.
Keep up the wonderful work!

Can you also get Taffy/Daphne Dupont on the show? She might have this whole Roxie Hart thing going after getting at V-Marr with a knife. What a woman.

The pie on stage thing was done by CGMC a couple years ago. Trust me. It's hilarious. :)
Great interviews with Mr./Ms. Busch. I'm very much looking forward to #200!!!!! :)

Fausto, I think it's time I got a raise, or at least a new 'title'.
Said by: David Cerda at November 19, 2005 09:21 PM
Okay David, you get a 20% raise! Congratulations! Now get to work on your Christmas show. MAKE IT FUNNY! Or else...
When did I suddenly become your boss? Does this mean you're really in your heart a bottom? I always pegged you as a top, I can never keep these things straight...
