FOF #195 - Dim Sum Brunch - 11.14.05

Podcast
Today's show begins with an annoying song that Fausto wrote when he was 12 years old to annoy his younger sister.
"Wake Up" is based on Robert Schumann's the "Happy Farmer" -it's one of those songs that kids learn when they take piano lessons.

On today's Feast of Fools Marc, Miss Ronnie and Fausto go out of the house to their local Chinese Dim-Sum Buffet and give Miss Ronnie a new taste-sensation: Chinese Dim Sum.

What is Dim Sum anyways? It's a meal made out of appetizers.Think of it as a Chinese Old Country Buffet that comes to you. You don't have to pick your fat ass up and go feed yourself.

That was one classy restaurant you guys went to, they served their diet pepsi in cans? Did they also have you wash your own dishes?

It was nice to wake up to Fausto's song. I think you should record it with a full orchestra and a chorus of young boys! Call Miss Understood, I'm sure she can provide the boys.

Amnesia, can you be on of those boys?

The boys over at Fox tell me you have a beautiful singing voice. Don't worry, I won't make you stand in line for 7 hours either!

You'll always be my Miss Pink and Pretty Teen American Idol

Interesting show guys. How come no picture of your cute waiter?

I am really hungry now, thanks.

If your goal was for me to wake up to your song... you succeeded.

There I was in peaceful slumber, dreaming those fun alpha-wave dreams that you get early in the morning as the sun starts coming though the blinds... and it was all interrupted with the "Wake Up" song.

My first thought in that weird state of half awake, half sleep confusion was "Why the hell would Fausto and Marc haul their piano all the way over here?"

This morning was so much more pleasant than the first time you woke me up... the first 15 seconds FOF Episode #158. That one scared the s--t out of me.

I can't tell you how many times I've been woken up with that song. You can take the song either way depending on your mood. It's really bad when you're hungover. But somedays it makes me feel like I'm in a Disney movie. It sounds like something Snow White would sing to the Seven Dwarves.

(As a new listenter, this is show #3 for me). Today's show made me feel as if I was having dim sum with the 3 of you. I love the energy between you. LOVE Miss Ronnie - gorgeous picture of her! And lastly, Fausto and Mark- I'll be the sauce to your dim-sums any day! Love u guys!

I can't wait until I can buy my portable recording device, then I can take my podcast on the road.

In Boston, MA, we got a ChinaTown, and I've some great Dim-Sum there.

Said by: folkyboy at November 14, 2005 05:13 PM

Leslie,

It's a little chain-y and they don't exactly bring your food around on carts, but you should still check out Chin Chin in Las Vegas. They're on the strip somewhere and their motto is literally, "Dim Sum and Then Some..."

HEEEEYYYYYYY!!
I'VE BEEN KNEE DEEP IN BIOLOGY AND TISSUE.I'VE BEEN ILL WITH THE BIRD FLU,
BUT IT'S HARD TO KEEP A GOOD DIVA DOWN THATS WHY I KEEP ON COMING.
FIRST OFF I'D LIKE TO THANK MY BOYS FOR A WONDERFUL EATING EXPERIANCE, THAT RESTURANT IS RITE DOWN THE STREET FROM WHERE I LIVE, I'VE MUST'VE PASSED IT A THOUSAND TIMES AND NEVER ONCE GAVE IT A SECOND THOUGHT TILL THAT SUNDAY MORNING. SECONDLY I FOUND OUT WHAR DIM-SUM REALLY MEANS...IT'S ASIAN FOR LETS HELP KEEP THE FAT ON THE BIG BITCH! NOW YOU ALL KNOW THAT IM LOW CARBING AND CURVING AS MUCH AS I CAN, AND DIM SUM WAS NO WHERE IN THE PROGRAM!

Said by: MS. RONNI at November 14, 2005 07:00 PM

Someone told me that Dim Sum is Chinese for "stuff the heart." In other words, it's just enough, not too much, etc. When I was there a few months ago with some of my neighbors in the building, they had quail eggs there. I was too afraid...

The waiters ARE really cute...

Said by: Aaron at November 14, 2005 07:55 PM

UNTIL I DECIDED THAT I WANTED STARBUCKS...CHILDREN IM HERE TO TELLYOU THAT WHNE FAUSTO AND MARC GOT ME HOME ....I WAS IN THE BATHROOM WHERE I REPRESNTED!!!!!! AND YOU ALL KNOW WHAT I MEAN

Said by: MS. RONNI at November 14, 2005 08:35 PM

A REAL feast of fools! Listened (as is my custom) when I got home from the office. I was so f***ing hungry by the end of the show, I was ready to eat the feet off my cat! You guys are brilliant, hear me? Gigantic! Meteoric! Oh. "Dropping a pea in the Grand Canyon?" Sounds like my type. Should have snapped an image of your server.

Ciao!

*spiral eyes*

I just ate my lunch at 10:00 AM

my co-workers are looking at me funny, but damned if I wasn't HONGRY after that podcast.

I think I may have to go out to the grocery store and get more food, too.

Said by: psyton at November 15, 2005 09:51 AM

This show is reek of racism and ignorance!!!!! I am glad you bitches didn't choke on the dumplings!!

Said by: Dick at November 15, 2005 12:24 PM

Dim Sum is *the best*! I found it amusing that you took Ms Ronni to it because I took a few of my friends on a Dim Sum'ing experience too.

Just imagine, we would have been eating Dim Sum at the same time! :)

Ya'll really need to try the chicken feet, pig skin, and tripe.

Dim Sum literally means to 'order heart' and translates to 'order to your hearts' content'. Also goes by Yum Cha, which means drink tea! And tea is a diuretic and aids in diguestion, so gettin' those cans of diet coke was a big no-no!

See ya FoF!

Said by: jase at November 15, 2005 03:40 PM

you guys are some bossy bitches.....

I still love ya though!

Miss Ronnie Rocks

Said by: Ricky at November 15, 2005 09:15 PM

When Miss Ronnie told Fausto he was "wrapped up like one of 'dem Al Quaeda bitches", I nearly rammed my car into the one in front of me I was laughing so hard. The comment was just so timely and inappropriate given the images of that woman in Jordan with the TNT girdle on TV, I had to laugh. Instant Karma nearly got me for laughing though.

Great show and excellent use of dead air.
