Hey guys! After me & Maeve did the Garbo thing, I read all about tapeworms at Snopes.com. They say that maybe in ye olden days they used to sell tapeworm heads through the mail. But Maria Callas probably got hers from steak tartare!

Also my grandma told me that in Puerto Rico they used to get rid of worms in children by starving them for a couple days, then suspending them naked over a tub of hot milk. The hungry worm smells the milk then crawls out of the kid's ass and into the milk!! Ever do that, Fausto?

John- the tapeworm stories are HILARIOUS. I'll def. ask my dad about how people in the OLD days (1920's) got rid of tapeworms in Cataño (thats the little town my dad is from)

I think it's because of tapeworms that my dad ABHORS sushi to this day. Good news! My dad got accepted into the retirement home he wanted to go to. (Old folks' homes in Puerto Rico are spotty)

Aaron B., I can't see through time into dead people's intestines, but my source on that was the joint Callas-Onassis bio "Greek Fire" from maybe 4 years ago. And I didn't say she lost the weight by swallowing a tapeworm--the bio says she lost the weight _after_ losing the tapeworm (I'm still not sure how that would work, maybe it wasn't a cause & effect thing). If I could only have Zeffirelli at call on my mobile, he would put things right, I'm certain. Oh how fab the Garbo exhibit must have been! I could just see myself there! Wanted to hear about the 52st st. excursion, though - but it never happened (on FOF). Did you get to go to her "pad?" 52nd and where, BTW? - just for my private reference. Do you have the new boxed DVD Garbo set? I've been thinking about buying it - but haven't heard any reviews from anyone personally. Amazon.com is NOT my guide, if you know what I mean....
