Thanks for the shoutout Marc. :) Dawn and I had a great time too. Fausto, consider having Michelle on...she's a real spitfire! "Party Animals", I don't know, but when you're old and you've got the next day off you go WHOLE HOG! (and we did) ha ha It was a night to be remembered. The "Bead Lady" was the best drink of the night. xo

You're welcome Aaron! And thank you and Dawn. My sister and I had a lot of fun. You're right, we'll have to get her on sometime. I forget sometime how much our sense of humor is alike. I have to figure out how to export that audio we recorded. I don't know if any of it will even make sense, but it was fun recording it!

What is "royale"?

Said by: John M. at October 20, 2005 05:46 AM

I'll have to agree with John. Casino Royale.... though isn't royale just an english adaptation of a french word?

Said by: mike hipp at October 20, 2005 06:06 AM

hey! don't you just hate it when I start posting before I listen to the whole show?!

Thank you Victoria, Fausto and Marc for the shoutout for the candle business John and I run ... www.soycandlesbyphebes.com. Also for hipperspective and the new project! Oh my goodness you have no idea how turned on I get to hear my name on the air!

Vmarr... the soy wax is perfectly non-harmful to injest or spread all over your body. It's natural soy wax and botanical oils so there's nothing that will hurt you..... though I wouldn't advocate injesting it very often... may give you the shits.

Love you all to pieces!

Whoops - Almost forgot a smooch for the V-Marr! XOXOXO! :)

Ding! Ding! DIng! We have a winner. Yes, John it is royale or royal. And yes Mike, it is borrowed from the French. eg. rhyme royal, princess royal etc. My professor may have been wrong though. I googled it today and found a few others if you are interested.

damn you, Marc, and your contest!! I've listened to George 4 times now and I can't get that fucking adjective

good show, gang...

Marc -- are there photos from Pittsburgh? Vmar mentioned something about some today on the show (maybe they are something that you don't want to post) I'm from the 'burgh and feeling homesick.

What a fabulous link, Marc. I love love love grammar. Grandpa is ok, too.

Said by: John M. at October 20, 2005 02:24 PM

If I may come in on this. "Royale" is of course a French word which stands for royal. You gathered that already. Using French words instead of the proper English ones is a kind of spleen us British like to use when we want to give the impression of being well-read. Some people think it sounds better, hence the mix of words in the Bond movie title. Here is another one: Gelee Royale. Can you work that one out ?

Hi Fausto and Marc! I just the episode about Hawaii. I HEARD MY SHOUT-OUT! Thanks so much! It made me feel special. I'll see if I could ever visit one day (and read poetry - Fausto tried to say before Amanda started talking). My mom would also be really interesting to interview cos she was in politics, almost ran for senate and is generally a cool and smart lady. Thanks again! Much love!

Said by: Alison at October 20, 2005 10:37 PM

Oh Alison! Let's do that! That would be swell...
Ask your mom to listen to the show and find out if she wants to do it.

Said by: Fausto at October 20, 2005 11:27 PM

Hi chaps - just listened to this show, a day late. Regarding the adjective, actually, just "royal" will do - e.g. battle royal, Princess Royal, as in Princess Anne, not that you probably know who *she* is... ;-)

On the scuba diving front, think of it like this - at the surface, we're at one atmospheric pressure. For each ten metres you dive, that's another atmospheric pressure. So, if I dive to 40 metres (which I can, and have, on air) that means my body is subject to five times the pressure it is on the surface. Think about breast implants - maybe *they* won't be so happy under that kind of pressure? I recall horror stories of silicone funbags bursting at reduced pressures (e.g. in aeroplanes) so why not rupturing at higher pressures?

I'm probably just being paranoid. Ignore me.

John S: Tons of pics of the city on my Flickr site. I need to get some new shots now that it's fall. :)

Again Koan, I would ask your doctor about that. Although the theory of your breast expanding/compressing underwater sounds humorous, the reality might not be so funny. We want our Koan to come back from her scuba diving lessons in one piece!

Said by: Fausto at October 21, 2005 11:06 AM

Aaron C. ~ thanks for the link.....I just spent all morning looking through your pics ...:) Some really cute shots with Marc (and I loved seeing the city shots)

Said by: john s at October 21, 2005 12:28 PM

Lessons? Fully qualified and experienced, me! Next step on the ladder for me would be to train as an instructor... not that I'm going to. I've absolutely no interest in diving in chilly UK waters, and no immediate likelihood of relocating to the Caribbean. Sadly... As for asking a doctor, every one I've asked so far has said, "don't know - do post-operative women *want* to go diving?" As if all I'll be interested in is painting my nails. Sheesh...

Said by: Koan Bremner at October 21, 2005 12:53 PM

Thanks John and thanks Aaron for the pics. I'll post some this weekend.
