FOF #154 - Shirley Temple Black - 09.16.05

Here's a picture of real interspecies sex: a Lioness being fucked by a Tiger. This photo reminds us of some people we know for one reason or another. Can you guess who they are?
Victoria Lamarr joins us today to talk about her fun-filled AIDS camping trip with "Go Take a Hike" a non-profit group that takes folks living with HIV/AIDS out for a hiking weekend in the woods.
This week's Martinicast features the "Shirley Temple Black" a drink named after the famous child star-Republican political appointee now retiree. Click on the extended entry for details.

MARTINICAST:
"Shirley Temple Black"
This drink is easy and fun. It's just like a Shirley Temple but you add a little scotch for that oh so grown up feeling.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 ounces of johnny Walker Black Scotch
Lemon/Lime Soda
Grenadine or Pomegranite Syrup
Take an iced filled glass and pour in the Scotch. Fill the glass with lemon/lime soda. Use diet soda to cut the calories. Don't worry, the Pomegranite syrup will make it sweet enough. Stir in a teaspoon of Pomegranite syrup. Garnish with a cherry.
For added flavor and punch. Soak the Marichino cherries for at least 24 hours in the Scotch.
Grenadine is suppossed to be a pomegranite syrup but the main brands available today don't even contain pomegranite. They are mostly citric acid and high fructose corn syrup. You can make your own pomegranate syrup by reducing pomegrante juice with sugar. The taste of pomegranate syrup versus grenadine is worth the little extra effort. It will keep refrigerated for a very long time.

Hey,
I love the show, of course. Here's a link for anyone who listened to today's show: http://www.dailytexanonline.com/media/paper410/news/2005/09/07/Opinion/The-Firing.Line-977047.shtml. Scroll to "Bush: Don't Reject Cuban Aid" or something like that. It's an article in the Texan about... Bush rejecting aid. I LOVE (as always) his quote. Is it English? Texan? Neither? Who knows. Who ever knows.

The lioness doesn't seem to be enjoying it very much, does she...?

Tommy, do you remember my cable access show "El Show De Faustina?"
It used to run on cable access in Austin back when I lived there in 1995.

I saw Ragan, Jungle Lioness, in person last night at Ego's. His poetry was absolutely amazing. Hey Tommy, you should have come out last night! Oh, Fausto. I'd love for you or World-Class designer Dag to give my album art a makeover. Can you make it fabulous, or at the very least, "fabu-lash"? Ragan's rubbing off on me...and not in the good way. Love you guys, take care!

Fausto is partially right about the government keeping dairy farmers in business. Since the 40’s the government has a special program with dairy farmers. Basically the farmers are to produce as much milk as they can. It is to keep the dairy prices down. Any milk that is not sold or used in other product is then made into dried milk. This dried milk is stored in the mid-west in man made caves. There are millions of pounds of powdered milk in these caves. It just sits there. So the government buys the powdered milk, and then pays for man made caves in the Midwest to store it for them.
I will try to find the newspaper article that I read and forward it to you. It explains so much.
Anyway you guys are doing a great job. Your podcast, along with Patrick and Noah’s makes the first part of my work day go by faster. I know you don’t want to hear this but Dawn and Drew help too! J

Well... I'm from Houston and New Orleans, and I just moved to Austin for school. And, I was 10 in 1995.
