FOF #153 - Put A Tiger in Your Tank - 09.15.05

Podcast
Our caramel-voiced European correspondent George Grant
reports on fashion trends that will inevitably affect us all (well "us" meaning gay white men, the rest of you are safe). Baseball caps as code, REALLY Low-Riser jeans (so low they show hair-pie) and stores so minimalist, you'd think they were simply out of inventory and furniture.

Amanda Steinstein once agains joins Marc and Fausto to talk about a German inventor who has found a way to take animals and convert them into gas. Soilent Green is People! Gasohol is Pets!

Also, Amanda shares a secret that Andrew Lloyd Webber might have suffered from cryptomnesia when he wrote the song "Memory" in the musical "Cats." She thinks the melody sounds an awful lot like the instrumental from the Mamas and the Papas' song "California Dreamin'". Coincidence? You decide.

hey loved the show today... I love when Amanda is on!

Did you know that gas prices in London are approaching $10 US!

Hey guys, just finished the show... It was great... I can't wait for the euro-trash low-rise jeans to catch on over here... Especially at the college here in town! So many hot boys, with a lil bit of patch showin...

This was the first show I'd listened to with Amanda, and I love her! You all work so well together, and she kinda reminds me of Alex Borstein from MADtv a lil bit. A lil bit yeah.

So I have this website, and Podcast LoveandPunches.net. We could definitely use some graphic inspiration, so if you pick someone for the next Dag prize, pick us! :-P

Love the show! Keep em comin!

Okay.... I have red hair AND I'm left handed so tell me... am I the biggest freak on the planet according to Fausto and Marc?

Said by: mike hipp at September 15, 2005 09:54 AM

Hey Fausto, do not complain about having to pay $35 to fill your car! As Mike said in the first comment prices here are unreal - to fill an average car here you're talking £40-50 upwards, given that the average here is 2 litres, as opposed to about 3 over there. Thats above $70! Sorry, don't mean to rant but its a real problem here. Because that bastard Bush will not raise your fuel prices in line with the rest of the world, sucker nations like Britain end up paying the short fall.

Said by: Chrissie at September 15, 2005 10:53 AM

Okay I won't. But the meat of the story is that we need to put tremendous pressure on our governments and transportation industries to develop affordable, ecological, egalitarian and convenient transportation solutions.

Said by: Fausto at September 15, 2005 12:34 PM

Is anyone as turned on by the low LOW rizers as I am?

Said by: Fausto at September 15, 2005 02:46 PM

I am but please don't start wearing them honey

Said by: Marc Felion at September 15, 2005 04:11 PM

I think we have a right to complain about gas prices. Europeans have always paid more for gas than Americans but Europeans have a much better system of public transportation and they have National Healthcare to pay for as well. I'm sure that Europe is not subsidizing U.S. consumption, but rather the EU taxes on gas are much higher than here. I'm sorry you guys are paying a lot, but think of the benefits you reap from it.

Take the subway! (or take a bus too)

Said by: sniffy dummerbale at September 15, 2005 04:37 PM

That makes sense, I think most people recognise that health care and education are never high on the American government's agenda. The good old "we won't tax you like the democrats will", every man for himself policy always seems to get the right wing conservatives in office without fail - the WORLD over. Its just such a shame we are taxed SOOOO much on everything. Us Brits are renowned for stomaching the nastiest of medicines without complaint.

Said by: Chrissie at September 15, 2005 05:52 PM

I think the low risers are sexy in theory but would more than likely only create pain and disgust in practise.

Said by: Chrissie at September 15, 2005 05:55 PM

I would love to see them on Scott Galetto.

Said by: Fausto at September 15, 2005 06:01 PM

Memories, all alone in the shower.
Oh my penis is throbbing for the moment has come.
I am rubbing, I am stroking and I´m close to climax.
But the boiler soon ends my pleasures and cold water shrinks it.

Now my p e n i s is tiny. It looks shrivelled and withered for the moment has gone.
No more squirting in the shower, all my lust has faltered ...

Memories of a nice hard-on. It was true heaven but I have to get out ...

Hey guys, just want to let you know in my personal opinion Amanda is right with concerns to Andrew Lyold Weber. I believe he has stolen riffs from several other sources the likes of Rick Wakeman. Listen to this and tell me if you don’t think the song from Phantom of the Opera isn’t taken from the organ riff. Back in the day my sisters and I would argue constantly on the creatively or lack of it, from ALW. Please let Amanda know I believe he has done nothing more than take music from pop songs, repackage it as plays and operas and made money from sappy mindless individuals.

Also tell Amanda to kick that guy at work in the balls for the crap he did. You go girl!

Keep up the great work!

Thanks in Advance!

Hi there! I saw Cats tonight and it is the most ri-cock-ulous thing I've ever seen in my life. Memory is the ONLY good song, I agree. It's so weird about the Calfornia Dreamin' and Memory musical similarities. It does sound a bit odd...

Said by: Ali at September 15, 2005 11:51 PM

She was right...it is California Dreaming!

Need Album Art!

Memories... all alone in the moon light. What a gay song! Every time I sing it I think of myself as a washed up starlet, sitting in my chaise lounge sipping on a gin and tonic, dreaming about the yesteryears.

Another winner from Feast of Fools...!

Three things:

1) I think it's a scream the way that George Grant speaks perfect English with a German accent! I realise he lives in Germany - I think it's great when accents morph. For example, there's an English former football player (i.e. soccer, not gridiron) called Tony Woodcock, who went to play for (I think) Stuttgart late in his career, and decided to stay in Germany. He's often trotted out as a radio punditt, especially when England play Germany - and his accent is now more German than English. And Jan Molby is a Dan (I think) who played for Liverpool for many years... and ended up speaking English with a Danish / Liverpudlian accent. He played the end of his career in Wales, then started managing there... and now speaks with a Danish / Liverpudlian / Welsh accent. I kid you not.

2) Thanks for the shout-out, guys, and the heads-up about the prostate issue - I shall be sure to raise that subject with my surgeon, *which won't be long now*, because I got my first surgical approval yesterday! :-) See http://www.multidimensional.me.uk/2005/09/16.html#a250 for the full skinny. And for those who are worried that they're not draining all the carcinogenic gunk out of theirs, try one of these - http://www.aneros.com/

3) And now... I haven't whinged at you for a while, Fausto, so time for you to feel my hormonal wrath. My podcast is called "CrossOver" - not "Crosstalk", not "Crossing Over" (aka the dead show), and yes, it *is* a podcast, and no, it is not called "Crossover Podcast", as you have it in your links bar. One word, capitalised "C" and "O". Branding, baby - I don't refer to your show as "Forest of Flakes", "Flurry of Freaks" or anything other than it's proper name. So, please, once and for all, *fix it*, will ya? ;-)

Whinge over. *Don't* make me come over there and chastise you in person. You would not enjoy it.

Actually, *you* probably would! ;-)

Cheers, Koan

Thank you all for sharing my disgust with Andrew Lloyd Webber, and for finally confirming that I'm NOT nuts for hearing Memory in California Dreamin.

Thank you also for all the supportive comments to help me get over that asswipe guy.

Thank you also for low-low-low-rise jeans. I never liked the look of the falling-down-pants with plaid boxers showing, but flash me that little garden, boys, and I'll make your flowers grow.

Oh and while we're at it...the whole shaving thing...stop at the face, dudes. Everything below the neck is beautiful the way it is, front and back.

Kisses,
-AS
