FOF #152 - We Hate Men - 09.14.05
Amanda Steinstein got in a heap of trouble when she tried to date a guy who was in a relationship with another woman. Is this show about men behaving badly, or the people who put up with that kind of behavior? Will somebody tell us?
Believe it or not, Prez. Bush Jr. apologized today for dragging his feet in regards to responding to Hurricane Katrina. Well, in his own stupid way. Has anyone noticed how gray his hair is lately?
Here's a quote:
"Katrina exposed serious problems in our response capability at all levels of government," Bush said at a joint White House news conference with Iraqi President Jalal Talabani. "And to the extent that the federal government didn't fully do its job right, I take responsibility. I want to know what went right and what went wrong," said Bush.
Bush is clearly allergic to the words "I'm sorry." But then again, we wouldn't apologize for something we don't think we've done wrong. Bush doesn't think of himself as a failure of any kind.
Maybe Karl Rove is whispering in his ear to start mopping up the political mess the Republican party is in by apologizing for not responding adequately to the damange done by hurricane Katrina.

I'm the guy who posted about driving in the mountains of Taiwan listening to your podcast. I sent you a probably pretty unclear voice mail about your webpage comment posts. I'm writing this just in case you couldn't figure out what I was getting at in the voicemail. I have tried posting before on your webpage but it never went through. When I put in the security number, the page rejects it and says Wrong or Missing Security Code. After several attempts at different times I just gave up. Finally this last time, I did it four or five times in a row and then finally it went through. Each time I was very careful to type the exact number.
I have also noticed when I did a test, that after it rejects the comment, if you hit the post button a
second time, it goes through.
I just mention all this because I think maybe one
reason that you don't get a lot of post show comments is because people are getting the Wrong or Missing Security Code message, and giving up, like I did. Maybe there is a glitch somewhere in the program.
Also I want to ask if you have ever considered getting a P.O. box? I think listeners like myself would occasionally like to send you things as a thank you for all the work you do. My sister listens to Dawn and Drew and she told me they set one up and get things all the time. Sometimes listeners just want to say thanks in this way by sending something.
Also, I saw your comment after my comment on your webpage. It was cool to see your response, but I have to mention one thing. You called Taiwan, China. Taiwan is an independent country. It's not part of China at all. In fact it's constantly under threat of attack from China. People here are fiercely independent and both fear and loathe the China threat. Even the language is different. Most people speak Taiwanese and are very proud that they are not Chinese.

I'm on my long drive to the mountains. I go there for some clean air and to camp and plant trees once a week. I always drive alone but I'm never alone with your podcast playing. It feels like I'm with good people.

Guys, please throw that girl (Amanda) a bone....she's just gagging for it!!!!! And thinking about it, is there something going on when Amanda declares to two young (term used loosely) that she's a bottom almost at the same time they supportingly tell her they are tops.....

Okay, for the record, I did not try to date a guy who was in a relationship. I worked very hard NOT to get involved with this guy BECAUSE he was in that relationship, even as it was crumbling before his eyes. When he finally decided it was OVER, I started to accept that MAYBE he was available. It took him about a week to convince me that it was in fact OVER with her, at which point I...hold onto your hats...HELD HIS HAND. He worked very hard to get me to believe that it was over with her AND that he was seriously interested in me. And when I finally believed him...BLAMMO!
I don't want anyone to think I pursued a guy in a relationship. I will go to great lengths, even LOTS OF CAPS to say that I only started to get involved when I believed he was NO LONGER in that relationship.
All you people stringing along a back-up person in case your main person doesn't work out...you should rot alive in hell.

Men - huh - who needs 'em? Certainly not me... anyhoo, I was sorry to hear about your experience with this particular asshat, Amanda - and I confess, I'll never look at Squirrels in the same light again! :-)
Loved the show - and the image of Fausto's eyes exploding in pain as his eardrums imploded under the "dynamic audio levels" was *particularly* delicious!
