Performance artist Tim Miller talks about his life, Jesse Helms, his dog Freida, his work, his hubby Alistair, three-ways, and more with Fausto and Marc on todays show.
In the early 1980's Tim Miller was one of the first gay men living in New York City to create solo biographic work and label it "Performance Art." He came under the national spotlight a decade later when anti-gay groups, religious fundamentalists and politicians successfully attacked the National Endowment for the Arts for funding "morally questionable" work.
Tim Miller is one of the "N.E.A. Four" - Karen Finley, Tim Miller, John Fleck, and Holly Hughes, all performance artists whose proposed grants from the United States government's National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) were vetoed by John Frohnmayer in June 1990. Grants were overtly vetoed on the basis of subject matter after the artists had successfully passed through a peer review process. The artists won their case in court in 1993 and were awarded amounts equal to the grant money in question. In response, the NEA, under pressure from Congress, stopped funding individual artists.
For over 20 years Miller has written several books, Shirts and Skin and Body Blows.
He currently tours the United States and abroad performing his new solo work, "US" about he and his partner Alistair McCartney's struggle to stay together in the United States, and about his love for musical theater.

Interview with John Waters, the legendary filmmaker about his latest film "A Dirty Shame" now out on DVD.
(Orginally posted on June 2005.) Listen to this juicy nugget of podcasting goodness as I talk with the "Fellini of Freaks" John Waters, about gay days at Disney World, strange candy products, Republicans co-opting his work, and why Waters thinks that Larry Kramer is the Bill Cosby of the Gay Community.
John Waters began his film career much like Johnny Knoxville, one of the stars of "A Dirty Shame" by having his friends perform outrageous stunts for the camera. Over the course of several decades, Waters has captured the very essence of American low-culture, by creating films that lovingly focus on outsiders, misfits, queers of all shapes and sizes.
One of his most notorious actors, Divine re-defined the entire genre of drag into an agressive, satirical and irreverent form. Divine's last film with Waters, Hairspray has been turned into a very successfull Broadway Musical which starred Harvey Fierstein in Divine's role as Edna Turnblad.
Some shows are just so tasty, we just HAVE to put them up again for you to enjoy!

Trista Smith says she has "done anal." She and Merrie Greenfield and a mess of other hilarious Chicago actors star in David Cerda's hilarious stage adaptation of Brian De Palma's 1976 b-rated film adaptation of Stephen King's novel Carrie titled "Scarrie."
Also, more talk on teenage girls who wear flip-flops at the whitehouse, and Pres. Bush Jr's new Dan Quayle look-alike whore, John G. Roberts, who is called "Mr. French Fry," because he upheld the right to use excessive force in regards to a 14 year old teenage girl getting arrested for eating french fries on a train, and in 1990 said in a brief that Roe vs. Wade should be overruled.

The only podcaster right now living with full-blown AIDS, Victoria Lamarr is in the hospital recovering from a bad case of spinal menengitis. You might have heard her on the Feast of Fools podcast talking about her crush on her doctor, and all the bitchy nurses she has to deal with.
We had originally posted a paypal donate button on our website to buy her flowers, and the response has been tremendous! We've managed to raise $102.00 so far without even trying. So here goes. Instead of giving Victoria a bouquet of flowers, we want Victoria to start videocasting and so we wanted the community to set her up with a cheap eMac and iSight camera ($800 is our goal) which we can acheive.
Flowers wilt, but a videocast will last forever. Won't you give some cash to get Victoria on the air?
Just donate $10-100 and help get our beloved Miss Vicki a computer!

If you haven't heard of Indian-maharaji international pop superstar Daler Mehndi, you probably never will. (Note you will need Real Player to view this movie.)
This guy rips off one of RuPauls' catchphrases from his song Supermodel.
From his website:
"[sic] I have one thing to say: TUNAK TUNAK TAN! your life will be changed. you will dance. you will dance like you've never danced in your life. daler mehndi is one of india's biggest pop stars, or so i found out just recently. this video is one of those things that people pass around to their friends on the internet, and No-Nothing Rock! is here to pass it on to you. TUNAK TUANK TAN is a close five minutes of non-stop fun, genius, and amazement."
A link to his official website is here.

She is on fire! Check out new singing sensation Peter Curtis Wearing her do' rag with her cut-off shirt, sashaying behind his x-box. He describes himself as the "[sic] The World's Happiest Pop Stars."
Check out the song lyrics from his never-to-be hit song Pizzaz:
"Cruising around for an awesome PART-tay, Pizazz will be there and we'll show you the way-hay. The beats will be bumping, and the guys will be nice. Everyone there will be in for a suprise!"
It's hot. Work it. It's hot. What is PIZZAZ anyways? His penis? Is it a new urban hip gay word for PIZZA? Don't you love how he's sitting on a big bubble in the beginning of the video?
This is why videocasts/podcasts are growing in popularity, because you wont see this hot HOT shit on TV for sure.

Steven King's film Carrie as a musical? WHAT the Phuck? A local Chicago theater company, Hell in a Handbag Productions restaged last weekend their new musical "Scarrie" a "parodage" (parody + homage) to Steven King's 1976 horror film about teenage abuse and telekenesis. Listen to this soundseeing tour of their opening night, and all the really great backstage interviews.
Whats really remakrable was how David Cerda picks up on the genre of the 1970's broadway musical (Think Jesus Christ Superstar) and references it over and over again in the show. The "Plug it In" number carries a lof of the same frenetic intensity that "What's The Buzz" from Jesus Christ Superstar does.
The hilarious references, the superb costumes and THE SHOES (yes the shoes are fabulous) almost steal the show from the wonderful ensemble work done by Ed Jones as the insane christian mother Margaret White and Joey Steakley in the title role. Merrie Greenfield cracked me up as Mrs. Snell, the drunk mother of Sue Snell, the confused anti-hero in the film. You'll forgive the crappy sound and audio feedback because everything else in this show is hilariously fun.
But of course I'm not unbiased, because if you've been listening to our podcasts you'll recognize a lot of the same guests (David Cerda, Link Pinks, Merrie Greenfield) on this show. A LOT of them have been in countless Feast of Fools live shows and I truly love these insane people and all their outlandish over the top shows.
UPDATE: Check out this lovely weblog which got it's readers to answer the question: ""If they were going to make a statue of you out of food, what kind of food would it be?"

Is it me or are fireworks kind of scary? They make me think of all the George W Bullshit and this terrible war the Bush Administration launched in Iraq.
If the Bush Administration really is as "peace loving" as they say they are, then they should create a national holiday where we all celebrate the end of wars in general. Peace Day? What day do you think Peace Day be on and why?

Yatta, Yatta, Yatta... You may ask: "What the hell does "Yatta" mean anyways? It may not mean anything at all. All I want to know is where are they hiding the radio packs to their head-set wireless microphones. If you listen closely at the end of the video, this japanese boy band uses a probably unclicensed audio sampling of R2-D2's beep of the Star Wars fame.
You won't see this on sale at Wal-Mart anytime soon.
UPDATE: If you thought that song violated George Luca's copyrights, check this delicious nonsensical parody of Yatta, corporate food products, logos, and homosexuals (fruits).

One thing we've begun to notice that both Marc and I have unusual names for English speakers to pronounce. So here is a good way to learn how to say our names:
MARC FELION
Marc (spelled with a "C")
Felion (Like Billion with an "F")
say: Fillion
FAUSTO FERNOS
Fausto ("Foul" without the "L" + "Toe" with an "S")
say: Fou-stoe (Also, like the famous opera "Faust" with an "O" at the end.)
Fernos ("Fur" + "NOS" Rhymes with "close", with empasis on the "NOS"
say: fur-NOHS
Now practice with a friend: "Oh my god, have you listened to the Feast of Fools podcast yet? Fausto Fernos and Marc Felion are faaabulous!"
