Here's the partial list of Iraqi casualties from March 21 - July 31, 2003, that Raed, Salam Pax and the now-late Marla Ruzicka compiled with hundreds of volunteers, essentially by going door to door in 2003 and asking families who they had lost and how. Marla was said to be 28, and although there was a US convoy involved in her death, it was the result of a suicide bomber. She was travelling the road it Iraqis need to take to ask for help from American forces, and where foreigners travel for flights out of the country.

Of course, I haven't seen the musical (sounds great, tho), but I will eagerly debate anyone on the merits of the film. Don't say 'Carrie' was a bad movie!

Well it's a "bad" movie like Mommie Dearest or Pink Flamingoes. It was critically a failure, but the audiences loved it (obviously!)

Did the critics really call the film a failure? I don't think so. If it was then those critics don't know what the hell they are talking about. I went to this site and picked three reviews, all of them good:

Marc, the film when it came out had very mixed reviews. Check out

(search for it.) you can see how people didnt like the movie. I personally love it of course. It's one of those films that get better every time you watch it. Just like Mommie Dearest and Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Your show has inspired me to finally get a copy of "Carrie" on DVD. I love "Carrie"! Oh, how I wished I had powers like her back in high school and then see my world crumble all around me while mommie damns me to hell.

CARRIE was NOT a 'bad film'. It received great notices and Piper Laurie and Sissy Spacek both received Oscar nominations which was unheard of at the time- for a b-horror movie to get that much recognition. I say b-movie because they didn't have an 'A' budget. You need to purchase the anniversary DVD and see the fascinating commentary by the cast and crew. The film was a labor of love! Damn it!

Oh yeah, Marc, on the Carrie controversy, I'm biased. Working on the show has made me love that movie. There are some really silly things about it, sure, but come on, Spacek, Buckley and Piper rule. And I've always loved Amy Irving (you have to love a movie with two glamorous Jewish women in it)... It was great watching it with the cast of Scarrie at an early rehearsal, you could tell who hadn't seen it by who inadvertently screamed at the suprise stuff.

But parts just don't date that well. (holy CRAP that detention song...) Someday people will think the same thing about things like "Mean Girls," probably.

My only peev: The stupid tuxedo scene speed-up. Bad editing move. I wish they'd included the complete slowed-down scene as an extra for the DVD.

And the Hitchcock/Bernard Hermann Psycho strings rip-off bugs, too. De Palma seems best when he's not trying to be Alfred.
