Feast of Fools #101 - A Low Life in High Heels, part 2 - 06.29.05
Holly Woodlawn returns! You wanted more, you got it! Today we have part two of our fabulous conversation with THE Andy Warhol Superstar, the legendary Holly Woodlawn who talks about what kind of food she would be made from if Madame Tussot's Wax Museum were to make a sculpture of her out of food (like the chocolate Elton John statue.)
Also on today's show Marc and Fausto talk about the brand-new iTunes 4.9 and why it's getting all the podcasters (people like us) panties in a bunch. But don't worry, we're not going anywhere! (Part 1 of 2)
Check out these fab pics of Holly, courtesy of the Holly Woodlawn Archives.

Holly Woodlawn was one of the first breakout Andy Warhol Superstars -people who were famous in New York in the late 70's for being their outrageous selves, and for being in his (actually Paul Morrisey's) films. They're the ones who started the saying "Famous for Fifteen Minutes," which mean that fame was short-lived and that celebrites had a tendency to burn bright and die young. What makes Holly Woodlawn even more extraordinary is that she has outlasted a lot of her peers because of luck, sheer will, and a generous optimism and love for humanity.
Listen as two generations of Puerto Rican drag queens (Fausto and Holly) match wits, widsom and warmth in this truly fab interview. (Part 1 of 2)

Feast of Fools #99 - Chicago Dyke March - 06.27.05
Click here to listen to the Feast of Fools Podcast, Monday June 27, 2005
Today's pride show is a soundseeing tour of Andersonville, and coincidentally, the Chicago Dyke March 2005! On Saturday I found thousands of hip, sassy lesbians and "gender warriors" marching in solidarity to raise political awareness for "dyke visibility." In addition to fighting "racism, sexsim and colonialism" some fab gals brought their own Gillian's Island inspired human-peddled-powered blender to make smoothies and cocktails for everyone!
From their website: "The Chicago Dyke March is an anti-racist, non-violent, volunteer-led grassroots event. Its goal is to bring together womyn-loving-womyn and allies across race, class, age, size, gender, ethnicity, cultures, faiths, and differing ability."
That it was indeed.

Did you know that Star Trek legend, Bostonian-Jewish actor, and former host of "In Search of" Leonard Nemoy is a budding photographer in his own right? Check out these HOT pictures of super-supermodels that can be found and purchased on his website, leonardnimoyphotography.com.
You wont see these kind of women on any of the Star Trek series.
Click here to listen to the Feast of Fools Podcast, Friday June 24, 2005 It seems that Japanese fast-food corporations are taking a cue from their American counterparts, and are lobbying hard to be able to sell burgers made out of whale meat at $3 a serving. What's next? Kentucky Fried Panda?
On todays show, Fausto and Marc talk about news items that involve animals eating, attacking, being attacked, or drinking large amounts of beer. Also, female orgasms and speculation about the new iTunes that will feature a Podcasting portal, and how that will affect everyone.
Note: This photo is a cover of some random poetry book.

Click here to listen to the Feast of Fools Podcast, Thursday June 23, 2005 You'll laugh! You'll cry! You'll want to listen to it again and again. On today's "Pod-CATS" your flaming-blue pal Fausto chats with hard-core Broadway industrial actor Joey Gyondla about all the mainstream musicals he's been in, including "Cats."
Listen to some wild backstage stories about this bizzare musical based on T.S. Elliot's poetry, and a take a total trip back to the 80's with the Feast of Fools!
If you want to donate to Joey's charity, he's trying to raise money for the AIDS Foundation of Chicago's marathon, and would LOVE it if you could contribute. It doesn't have to be much and it goes to a great charity here in Chicago, one that helps folks living with AIDS.
Check out these lovely photos of Joey in Cat-drag taken backstage when he performed in "Cat
s" in the late 80's early 90's.

On this show Marc and Fausto, the ONLY gay couple podcasting on the net, talk about Snoop Dog's lesbian porn, the new Batman movie, Christian Bale, Saddam Hussein, Janet Jackson, Brad Bitt, Jennifer Anniston, Angelina Joile, the UN and a whole bunch of other unrelated topics.
Sorry, we tried to get a celebrity interview with Brad Pitt, but he was too busy shopping for 19th century antiques to talk to us!
Also on this show, we sing a new theme song we wrote just for Wanda Wisdom, in case she ever becomes homeless.

Click here to watch the movie. John Sex was the most exciting entertainer in Downtown New York until he lost his life to AIDS in early 1989. Admired by Andy Warhol, best friends with Keith Haring, loved by Liberace, John Sex blended dance, rock and Broadway into a Las Vegas spectacle that was oh-so sassy-fying. Fortunately for us today, he was also friends with Nelson Sullivan who videotaped many of his fabulous shows.
Richard Metzger, who lived with Nelson Sullivan for a while in the 80's, directed this super music video for John and his co-stars The Bodacious Ta-Ta's. It's a genuine masterpiece and a wonderful tribute to one our most favorite entertainers and all-the-way nice guys, John Sex!

Click here to listen to the Feast of Fools Podcast, Monday June 20, 2005 Fausto drags Marc to the Puerto Rican Pride celebration in Humbolt Park, Chicago Illinois, and it totally sucked. Michael Jackson celebrates getting off, celebrities who do gay things, and a special Fathers Day phone call with Fausto's father who lives in Puerto Rico, Gonzalo Fernós.
UPDATE: Read the exended entry for a translation of the song that my dad sings.
Defekto, a.k.a. Jim Lucio, who bills himself as a party promoter, graphic designer, and artist based out of Baltimore, is a man after my own heart. The picture of the right is of his character named Wilma Martinez. Love the rotten teeth, the crazy wig, and operatic makeup.
He has a wonderful website-comic book, as well creating his "nightclub shows." HILARIOUS.
Weekend Movie: The Ballet Dancer and the Robot Phallus
Today's weekend movie is from a NASA archive, demonstrating an artificial "touch sensitive" robotic arm by having a ballet dancer do "contact improv" with it.
Who let the dogs out? Nobody, because it seems Nigeria the new rage is having DANGEROUS WILD ANIMALS as pets!
"Please, nobody ever tell me that they grew up in the hood ever again. Can you imagine growing up in this part of Nigeria where the pets are Hyenas?!
Yeah, you can bring your Pit Bull or your Rottweiller down there if you want--but I think you and your dog will get punked right on the spot.
This is probably a Nigerian gang (notice the arm bands) rolling through the hood. Check out the homemade muzzle. And they are being walked with truck chains!!!

Click here to watch the movie. On monday's show I chatted with gay historian and video archvist Robert Coddington, who generously shared this delicious clip caught in the mid 80's by Nelson Sullivan, of the original Village People cowboy Randy Jones singing "Boots Are Made for Walkin'. The back-up dancers in this footage are really hot.
The woman introducing Randy is none other than drag-legend Holly Woodlawn, which we'll be ending our pride series with a phone interview with her.
UPDATE: Here is the movie in Windows Media format in case you don't/wan't to have quicktime on your computer.
Listen to the hilarious lesbian Lea Delaria talk about her recent tiff with Gay Republicans in Palm Springs. Listen to the ORIGINAL Village People cowboy Randy Jones talk about his character being killed on the Simpsons TV show (they drown them in the Navy) and why he sang at President Bush's inaguration, and of course the sexy and charming Rachel Sage, Justin Tranter, June Millington, and the legendary Gaye Adegbalola. One and a-half hours of pure podcasting gold!
We talk about Deaundra Peek, Lady Bunny, RuPaul, and dozens of other great drag legends and lots of hip gay stuff even straight people are dying to know about. Why does RuPaul seem a bit agoraphobic? What real-life drag queen did John Cameron Mitchell base his chracter Hedwig on, and never give credit to?
The most remarkable thing about Nelson Sullivan's video work is that in many ways he was the forerunner to Videoblogs (Videocasting) which will begin to catch on next year as technology, devices, and bandwidth makes the sharing of quicktime movies the same as audio files.
TOMORROW: Listen to Marc and Fausto talk to THE ONE and only Lea Delaria about her recent trouble with gay republicans in Palm Springs, Randy Jones: the original Village People cowboy, and dozens of really cool gay and lesbian musicians at the OUT Music Awards (the Gay Grammies) in Chicago.
If you like our show, write to ritaredeye@tribune.com and tell her. They are looking for the "Best Blogs in Chicago"

Hi there everybody-
This week we moved the site to our new host, and I wanted to know if it's any easier to make comments on the site.
I had SO many spam comments (30-40 a day) which took forever to delete, so we put up one of those text code thingys (it's called "captcha") to try to make your comments spontaneous and easy, and scare off the evil-do-ers. I'm fearing that all our comment-spam woes have driven you all away! So please let me know if all this is working by posting a comment. Thanks!
