Feast of Fools.net - Star Warscast, Episode I - 05.20.05
Click here to listen to the Feast of Fools Podcast, Friday May 20, 2005

On the opening night of the LAST ever Star Wars film (that will be made for the forseeable future), Fausto and Marc go to chat with all the SciFi Megafans about Darth Vader, the Force and Lightsabers. And yes, it gets very nasty. Marc tells a story about a guy he knew who dressed up as Darth Vader in drag, and Fausto chats with some very cool Mexican folks about our "brothers" in the Star Wars movies. One of my all time favorite shows. Listen to Monday's show, where Fausto orders a quarterpounder with cheese from Darth Vaders chest intercom, and Marc chats with a supergeek about the end of an era.

Great show, guys. Nerds are hot.

Man, you guys are so lucky. We didn't see hardly any uber nerds all dressed up. That's half the fun of these things. Look forward to hearing the audio. Keep up the great work. Oh and I gotta admit that I think the length of the news theme is just right. I totally dig that song. Very appropriate. Just my 2 cents.

good show, but ian (emperor was only in 4 movies Jedi and the 3 shit prequels). on the new dvd of empire strikes back the actor who played and voiced the emperor in 1980 (who is now dead) has now been replaced by ian mcdiarmid.

Yea, I really loved this podcast too. And stay tuned for Part 2 on Monday, which has even more crazy chats with folks who are from a "galaxy far far away" in more ways than one. I was suprised how cool actually everyone in the Chicago Star Wars scene was.

Thanks for fact checking the whole Ian thang. So did George Lukas put him in the remakes of the first and second films?
As bad, cheezy and awful as some of the second gen Star Wars films may be, they are a testament to the power of mythology and the need for meaning that people in this fucked up religious imperialist world we live in crave. These films are part of our legacy as human beings, our fascination with outer space, alien culture, foreigners, and will be remembered (well at least the first star Wars movie) long long after these crapshows will have faded away.
Que la fuerza este contigo!

Great show! I totally ripped you off, but your interviews are so much better. The people I work for have a family friendly policy.
My fact checking said that though Episode I and II had scenes shot on location, Episode III is the only one that is shot entirely in a studio. Some pictures where shot from real locations for background scenery, but they were added to the action actors via green screen.

Yeah, but even studio work has some background sets and props made for the CGI process, to make the workflow easier, and seamless. (A feat that is very difficult still, since you can see in the movie that there are some moments that don't pull it off.)

I had to turn it off - I didn't want the spoilers (THANKS FOR RUINING THE SURPRISE DEATH OF JAR JAR BINKS GUYS! TUT!)
lol Oh well I'm looking forward to the next show, sans Star Wars I hope, because I wouldn't have seen it by then.
