Frequently Asked Questions
How do I stop my iPod from crashing?
People from time to time write to us asking for any insight on figuring out why playing our show cane make their iPod quit. I've done a little research to try and find some solutions.
Because we don't make the iPod or any other mp3 player, only the mp3 files the best approach is to try to contact Apple Computer or the manufacture directly and see what solutions they may provide.
I went digging online at Apple's own website and found some solutions of my own:
First try the 5 R's of iPod:
RESET, RETRY, RESTART, REINSTALL, RESTORE
1- Try updating your firmware on your iPod • Click here.
2- Turn off equalization on the device. • Click here.
3- Turn off Sound Check on the device. • Click here.
Remember you are not alone! I highly recommend visiting Apple.com discussion forums.
Here is a great list of iPod Frequently Asked Questions.
Here is one forum question with some solutions.
If you just bought the iPod, remember you can always visit an Apple store or call them for free technical support.
"Customers within 90 days of ownership are eligible for complimentary phone support—one incident per iPod and unlimited incidents per Mac. Purchase an AppleCare Protection Plan while still covered by the Apple One-Year Limited Warranty to extend your coverage. 1-800-275-2273 for technical assistance. Canadian customers, please call 1-800-263-3394. Other customers can find worldwide support numbers here."
Hope this helps, please post your own solutions if you have any.
WHAT IS A PODCAST?
A podcast is like a radio show or tv show on the internet, only you can subscribe to it and have it download in the background, like email. If you have iTunes installed its really easy to subscribe, just click here. Downloading and using iTunes is free, and subscribing to our show is free.
If you don't like iTunes you can also subcribe using these other methods:
SUBSCRIBE VIA: RSS FEED |ODEO | YAHOO | PODZINGER | BLUBRRY
How do I subscribe?
We recommend using iTunes because it is easy and free. If you already have the most current version of iTunes, just click here to go straight to the page.
Another way is to go to the Itunes music store and click podcast on the left-hand side menu. Search for "–Gay Fun Show- The Feast of Fools" or "Feast of Fools" or just "Fausto." You can also find us under the comedy directory. Click on the Feast of Fools icon and then hit the subscribe
button.
I like the music you play in the show. How can I find out who it is and where can I buy it?
All the artists we play on the show can be found in the show notes of each particular show at feastoffools .net. Follow the links where it says "Featured Music" to the iTunes music store, Amazon or CD Baby! You can also visit our mainmusic page.We get a little kickback for everything you buy for 18 hours after visiting iTunes through one of our links. Its a great way to support our podcast!
How do I sync up my iPod to automatically download the show to my Ipod?
iTunes offers podcast syncing, so you don't need any additional software to put us on your iPod. A new set of iTunes preferences allows you to automatically sync all your podcasts or just the podcasts you choose. You can even choose which podcast episodes to update — all episodes, only selected episodes, only recent episodes or only unplayed episodes. iTunes makes syncing your podcasts as easy as managing them.
When can I listen to the show?
Anytime you want. We are always here waiting for you. We post a brand new show five days a week. Although it feels like we're in the room with you, the show's are all pre-recorded. They are not
live. You don't have to tune in at a certain time (unlike radio where if you blink you'll miss it!)
When are new shows posted?
Most shows are posted around midnight central U.S. time. Monday through Friday.
iTunes only lists the last thirty shows. How do I access the archives?
Go to www.feastoffools.net, on the right hand side, you will find the archive link listed by month. Click on the month you want and find the show to which you would like to listen. Left click to just listen to the podcast. Right click to save the download and put it manually on your Ipod.
When did the Feast of Fools start podcasting?
Our first podcast was posted on Tuesday, February 8th, 2005. It had Fausto Fernós, Marc Felion and our live show's band leader Link Pinks talking about Paul McCartney's superbowl halftime show, censorship and breastgate. We predicted that podcasting was going to be huge. Unfortuately we can't post the show because due to copyright issues. (Don't worry, it wasnt that good.)
Why did you choose to start podcasting?
The Feast of Fools was originally a live theatrical experience performed in many Chicago area venues. It was a variety show that featured music, dance, poetry, comedy and performance art with an
outrageous play that took place between acts. Fausto and Marc wanted to take the show a step further by creating a cable access show, but then podcasting burst onto the scene with the promise of
video podcasting in the near future. It was decided that we would embrace this new media rather than cable access because of the ability to reach a greater audience and the freedom from FCC regulations.
How do I become a guest on the Feast of Fools?
We are always looking for unusual, spicy and delicious interview subjects or story angles. It's best if you get us in touch with someone, instead of saying "I wish you could do an interview with Amy Sedaris" but don't give us her agent's phone number. Please email us at feastoffools [at] gmail.com. We are always open to new guests and ideas.
How do you get these fabulous guests?
Having been involved in the arts for many years now, the Feast of Fools gang built a network of friends and contacts. Without the support of our friends and colleagues, this show would not be what it is today. We also depend a lot on our own listeners, bloggers, and media folks giving us great tips/agents/publicits phone numbers and email addresses. Without you we're nothing!
How do you do five shows a week and still have jobs?
It's in our DNA. We live to do this show, and make it our #1 priority. Podcasting is hard work! If we're not at work, or working out, sleeping or eating, we're usually podcasting. This is our life's passion and we put back every cent of our own money into paying for bandwidth, equipment, and materials.
Support the Feast of Fools in 10 easy ways:
1- Tell your friends about us. Show them how to listen to the show.
2- Link to us on your blog or website.
3- Write us a great review on iTunes
4- Write a letter to your local newspaper telling them about our show.
5- Email the show to a friend (you can freely share the mp3 files, its LEGAL.)
6- Buy a tshirt. Your donations help us pay for our expenses.
7- Email us a hot scoop! An unusual news item, a contact to a celebrity, or an interesting show topic.
8- Comment on the site. We read those comments first and always respond to them.
9- If you're a musician, mail us your CD and we'll play it on the show, and even put an iTunes link up so that our listeners can buy your music! We discourage music piracy and encourage iTunes/Amazon sales.
10- Come to our Meet N' Greets and tell us face-to-face what you think of our show! Better yet, help organize a local Feast of Fools event in your area. We're cheap.
What's up with the blue hair?
Podcasters love the color blue! Maybe it's because blue is belived by Hindu's and ancient Asian cultures to be tied with the communication/self-expression center of the body or the seventh "chakra." Blue also represents to us the term "Blue Comedy" which is material that is too raunchy or explicit to be shown through traditional broadcast channels. And of course astronomer Carl Sagan said that the color blue best represents humanity because it's the color our planet looks like when seen from far far away. Sacre bleu! Blue is sacred to us. Here on the Feast of Fools we embrace the color blue in all it's vivid and fabulous ways.
The rich sky blue is the official "color" of the Feast of Fools podcast.
When we were doing the live shows (before the days of podcasting) I was called the "Blue Fairy" by many of my fans because of all blue colored wigs and outfits I wore. As time wore on, I made a conscious decision to integrate my on-stage look with my everyday look, as a way to relate to the audience as myself.

Dear Feast of Fools,
Thank you so much for your wonderful podcast. Every day I look forward to listening to the show. Congrats to Miss Ronnie on the 97 on her Anatomy & Physiology exam. As a biology major, I understand the difficulties of the sciences. Keep up the good work! I also can't wait to receive my official "Feast of Fools" t-shirt. I will wear it around campus here at Fordham University with absolute pride. Most exciting of all is the upcoming meet-and-greet here in NYC. I just can't wait. Keep podcasting guys. You are an inspiration to all your listeners!

Hey Guys,
Just a quick note to thank you for bringing lots of humor into my otherwise boring day at work!! My coworkers think I'm nuts because I have my Ipod on and am always laughing. I let one of them hear Miss Ronnie's comments about giving a woman flowers instead of a ticket. She was crying from laughing so hard!! I am so glad that I stumbled across your podcast on Itunes and look forward to my daily dose of laughter.
Keep up the good work!!

Just listened to FOF #270 while on a weekly shopping excursion -- stores are a good 45 minutes to an hour away from home...
Anyway, I can't believe you gave out your phone number on the podcast! Are you deluged with phone calls now?
(I actually thought it was part of the routine so I googled the number and out you came!)

Hey Fausto, Mark and kooks,
Couple things...just made my way home, more than a bit addled and tweaked after a night out finding my way through my new town, but listening to one of your last broadcasts (274?) on a night bus home on strange streets heard my name shouted out - I didn't need to hear it to tell you how I have looked forward to your show since finding you several weeks ago, but suddenly, you brought me home and made me happy to be lost in a city surrounded by such good vibe you provided- I fucking love how you genuinely enjoy giving each other grief in such good humour, enjoy each other's eccentricities, connect with your guests by being vile, caring and irreverent, freeing up the the kook in everyone you interact with. You, Mark, Ms. Ronnie, Vickie Lamarr (and her peanut chewin' mom) are a strange constellation of characters with your own mythmaking and magic, and it's a pleasure to get to know you from afar.
The instigation of this note exactly now, buggered up as I may be, is this second thing...got home and committed to buying one of the fuckin' t-shirts you been hawking the last while (it's actually a pleasure to hear you liking what you do and shilling it, 'cause you are right, who else, and it would be a pleasure to have something you guys have put effort into)...the major bloody damn thing is,with all my good intentions, though I have tried to use my visa card both to buy on paypal but am having problems. Just moved to London from Toronto, still having to rely on a Canadian Visa...I am trying to pay and have the thing shipped to London, UK, but it won't allow for any shipping address that's different from my Canadian Visa. What's a guy to do?
I will try again, another day, but being limited in abilities at the best of times, thought I would ask for help, 'cause just not getting why a visa - intended for the world over, is suddenly not valid the world over...
In the meantime, you have taught me much in a very short while about the unapologietic joy of sharing part of yourself, and your friends = barring explanations, in fact celebrating the funkiness of it all. It's a great thing. Your podcast doesn't need to do anything different, get any bigger, find newer venues...being perfect doesn't mean polished, it means being authentic, and that's what has got me hooked, educated and charmed by the effort you put into these broadcasts.
Thanks kindly guys. Hope to be able to make it to your meet and greet in New York if I can work it by some finagling with a business trip that brings me to Chicago that week or the next, will see...then it will be a face off with that Irish boy who is vying for the long distance travellin' fan.
Good night, Sleep tight,
...Tom

Hey, guys!
My name is Sergio and I live in Miami, Florida with my partner, Charles. Before I start telling you my story, I just want to say that YOU ARE THE BEST. PERIOD, THE END!!! Like Miss Ronnie would say.
Charles introduced me to the world of podcasting. He told me one day that there was this great, funny show with these two great, funny gay men talking, joking and commenting on the most outrageous news. From that moment on, my nano is always loaded with the latest FOF program. You truly make an excellent job. Thank you!
About me... I came from Venezuela 5 years ago to live in New York City, but destiny forced me to move to Miami. I was actually born in Chile, but my parents moved to Venezuela when I was 7, so when they ask, I always say I'm from Venezuela, because there is where I was raised, studied and graduated in Communications, started my career as an actor and, also, Venezuela is where I met the woman of my life, Sonia, with whom I lived for 12 wonderful years.
Sonia and I moved to New York in 2001 because she was going to work for the company that her brother (who's gay) had created with his partner. Unfortunately, it was one of those "dot com" companies that went down during the "dot com" crisis at the end of the 90's, so she had to urgently seek another job to continue having a valid visa. After a stressing couple of months, she landed a job in Discovery Channel Latin America, based in Miami, so we had to move. By then, I had auditioned and had been accepted in "Repertorio Español", one of the most prestigious Spanish Theater Companies in New York, and I was actually working in three plays. It was heartbreaking for me. Here I am, in the Theater Capital of the World, actually working as an actor on stage, and I have to leave everything to move to Miami. I cried for days.
Anyways, we moved and, one year later, she told me she wanted to split with me because she had started feeling attracted to women. I was devastated. Luckily, by then I had been on therapy and medications for several months due to a huge depression I fell into when we left New York, so I survived the separation. Then, after an agonizing month, I finally came out of the closet, started fucking around with every single man that crossed my way and, eventually, ran into this gorgeous, tall, green eyed, blond haired Georgia boy with whom I fell in love and we have been partners for 4 delicious years now.
Some time after the separation, I met Claudia, Sonia’s current partner and she met Charles. We all get along wonderfully well. Actually, back then, our situation forced us to live together (the four of us!) in the same apartment for a few months. It was crazy. Our friends say that our story could make either a great melodrama for the big screen or a sit-com that would beat “Will and Grace”.
Today, Sonia and I continue to be the best of friends (I’d say we are soul mates), we have lunch once a week and we are in contact all the time. As I see it, I have been so lucky to have in my life a woman and a man that love me so much and to whom I deeply adore.
In regards to what I do for a living… I currently have two jobs: the main one is Sales Associate in an Armani Exchange store. I have been working there for almost 3 years now, and I am the No. 1 seller in my store. I actually ended last year being No. 37 in the top 100 best sales people around the country. Now, that’s the job I do to pay the bills, but I really don’t like it much. What I do enjoy is acting.
My career as an actor began while I was studying in the University. After graduating, I started working in the National Theater Company of Venezuela, where I did a lot of plays in a period of 4 years. After that, I worked as a freelance actor for various small companies. Then, due to the fact that being a stage actor doesn’t pay, I started working as a dubbing actor in movies, cartoons, series, documentaries, etc. Eventually, that became my main source of income and I was working a lot for 6 different dubbing companies before moving to the United States.
When we moved to Miami, I worked for three dubbing companies, but, being a freelance job, your money depends on how much you work. So, little by little, for various reasons, the dubbing work here began to be less and less reliable and I found myself with less and less money in my pockets. That’s why I had to apply in Armani Exchange.
In the 12+ years I have worked dubbing, I have dubbed quite a few interesting actors and programs. I guess one of the most famous is “Stan”, “Butters” and “Mr. Slave” from South Park, which I’ve been doing since the 7th season of the series. By the way, the latest episode I did was that infamous one where they pick on Scientology and Tom Cruise. It was so much fun to dub! Another kind of famous thing I did was “Brian” in Queer as Folk. I have dubbed actors like Matthew Broderick, Antonio Banderas, Jeff Goldblum, Peter Weller in “Robocop”, Peter MacNicol in “Sophie’s Choice”, James Woods in “Salvador”, Jared Leto, Marlon Brando (when he was young!) and many, many others.
Another interesting thing that I have dubbed (and I currently do, unfortunately) is porn movies. Straight porn movies. And I hate it with a passion!! Do you know what “hyperventilation” is? Is what happens when you have to moan, sigh, scream, curse, groan, whimper, shriek and grunt nonstop for 10 to 20 minutes, which is the average length of every freaking sex scene in a straight porn movie. I absolutely abhor it!
Now, you probably wonder why I wrote “Future neighbors” in the subject of this email. Well, hopefully Charles and I are going to be moving to Chicago this coming summer. We are very sick of this town and we are so ready to leave. I never liked Miami and never wanted to live here in the first place and now that I am separated from Sonia, there is really no reason for me to stay. Charles hasn’t had good luck work wise either, so, the plan so far is to move during June.
We made a trip to Chicago last year and scouted the areas where we would like to live in. I am going to be transferred to the Armani Exchange store on Michigan Avenue, so I guess a good option for moving in would be Lakeview, right? We are planning to rent a studio or a 1 bedroom apartment (we have a small dog and a cat, by the way) and the prices in that area are similar to what we pay here in Coral Gables, and it is not that far from The Loop. We are going to make a trip the second or third week of may to look for a place, sign a lease, get a couple of cell phones and buy a bed, so wish us luck.
Well, I won’t make this message any longer. I just wanted to introduce myself and tell you a little about my crazy story. Keep your fabulousness up and continue being the funniest, the gayest, the brightest and the most outstanding podcast of them all!!
Thank you again for bringing so many smiles to my face and make the hellish traffic of Miami more bearable.
Sergio.
PS: Please, please, please tell Miss Ronnie, Amanda and Victoria that Charles and I love them madly!
PS2: I created an account in Myspace.com and I posted my dubbing demo there. The URL is: http://www.myspace.com/66673446. Unfortunately, I don't have clips of "South Park" (or the porn!), but I hope you like it anyway.

Mark, Fausto, and Miss Ronnie,
What can I say. I am a small city guy with a huge gay heart. I live in Wichita, Ks and actually here we do not have much of a Gay Scene. But that has all changed for me. I started listening to your show not more that a week ago. I ran across it on iTunes and have downloaded all of the podcasts there. Listening to your show actaully makes my day. I laugh and chuckle all the time listening to you guys (espically Miss. Ronnie.) And Miss Ronnie at first I thought you were a drag Queen ;) But now I know different and now I wish you lived closer as i think we would have a grand ole time together. Me and my Partner have been together going on 4 years and it is nice to see with Marc and Fausto that you can have an awesome gay lifestyle with out having so much crap to put up with. (now I want to move to a big city). Anyways I just wanted to let you know that you guys sure do it for me. Bring that big city life to a small city boy who longs for more in life. (But cant seem to find it.) Thanks again and once payday rolls around I will be buying a T-shirt as I want to help you guys out. Thanks

Hey y’all – I was impressed with Marcs French shout out, but was it ‘je voudrais pousser écrire’ and does it mean ‘I would like to push to write’ as in please write us? Je parle français aussi et je voyage chaque année en France – j’ai suivi les classes à L’Alliance Française ici à Washington et Atlanta. My two favorite podcasts are Feast of Fools & Homo Micro the gay French podcast from Paris – I listen to you guys every day on the metro going to work and back and it’s actually very helpful because I’m laughing so hard the peeps think I’m crazy and leave me alone – love you guys and shout out to Miss Ronnie, love you baby & you tell it like it T.I. IS girl, Amanda Steinstein, my favorite Judy, love you too, your voice warms the cockles of my heart, and last but not least Victoria LaMarr, fabulous as ever, hows the drag house cleaning business going! Keep up the great work, you guys rock!

Its been nice to hear you guys eating whilst I've been trying to cut back, I feel like I've heard enough food so as not to feel hungry for the rest of the day.
We have lots of bumkins and hicks here in Britain, we also have a phenomenon know as 'Chavs'. They choose to walk around in addidas track suits tucked into their socks, cheap Burberry baseball caps and hang huge golden clown necklaces from their necks. NOT PLEASANT!!!
Another great show, thanks guys

Hey boyz,
Just finished listening to my first Feast of Fools episode (#340) and loved it, I was laughing out loud in public places which probably made me look a little weird, but I'm currently in Bangkok, Thailand so I think I looked a little weird anyway to the locals and they do look a little weird to me, and at the end of the day I love weird, weird is good.
Just had to let you know how I came across your podcast:
I'm mexican, but been travelling around the world for the past 9 months, got my iPod at the very beginning of this trip on which I dumped all my Kylie, Madonna and Robbie into it... not really, I'm a very diverse music fan from African folk to Zwan (to put it queerly from ABBA to West side story). Anyway, I've been on a nomadic way of life so I haven't really fussed about with the iTunes store, podcasts or anything else. On sunday I went to see Superman at a fabulous huge high-end mall in bangkok -loved it-, getting home I too was looking for the Lois Lane article "Why the world doen's need Superman" on the internet, couldn't find it but your podcast page came on the google search! I'm quite happy with my results as I was instantly intrigued and and happy after my first Feast of Fools listening experience.
Hope I manage to download your work for the rest of my trip! it's really entretaining, for the time being I got a lot of past podcasts.
The round the world trip is great! Meeting/fucking people from all over the world, managed to visit some great gay destinations: Cape Town and Sydney being big highlights. Might send some more travel stories later, going to get some delicious thai food now.
Keep it up!

Though I think the Germans in my town think I'm crazy, walking my dogs in country side and busting a gut constantly.

I say this with the utmost sincerity...y'all rock. Period. The end. I sent y'all an e-mail, but apparently I'm trying to prove what a groupie I am, so I'm leaving a comment too! You guys should be very proud of yourselves...I have a feeling you're gonna help me keep my sanity and sense of humor during college. Wish me luck! And once I get paid again, I'll probably buy a T-shirt! Thanks for the all-around total awesomeness that is: The Feast Of Fools

Nice choice for a re-podcast with the Josh Kilmer-Purcell interview. Definately on of your best! Such an important book for all in the GLBT community to read. I recommend it frequently, and respect him deeply!

I LOVE YOU GUYS!! I have been a subscriber for about a month now and can't make it through a day without my FOF fix...don't worry the $$ will be coming soon! Anyway, I am trying to get the word out here in sunny Fort Myers, FL about your witty, funny, topical and thought-provoking show! Maybe this winter you may want a meet & greet tour of Florida? You ROCK my drive home from work each night- and my world!. You are inspiring: I have started a blog (the podcast is the next project) and I am going to jump back up on the stage! Thanks for reminding me that their are still bright, funny, activist artists out there with something to say...and reminding them that I used to be one of them! I hope I can be a guest someday on the show if for no other reason than to get to meet you wonderful people in person! LOVE YOU!

Just a quick comment, your show causes my ipod to crash! I deleted it on itunes and then resubscibed and the same thing happens. I go to the feast of fools individual show to open it and the ipod restarts! any suggestions?

What's going on with the show? It's really slowing down and dragging on. Spice it up!

I just wanted to know if you ever considered having Jay Brannan on the show? I stumbled across his music on utube and saw his great performance in 'Shortbus'. I'd luuuurv to hear him on Feast of Fools.. Keep up the great work team and thanks for keeping me sane and smiling.... Bodhisattva

Hey!
I really like your celebrity interviews. When the phone is ringing while we wait for the celebrity to pick up, that irritates me, but I get over it. I think you guys should have David Bromstad on if he has time. Also it would be neat to hear Jonathon Taylor Thomas. He's gay too isn't he? Keep up the good work and positive energy!
